CONTEST: Planting and care
INTRODUCTION
Greetings from me, @destinedhanik to all esteemed members of this group. I believe everyone is doing fine. Today, I'll be contesting on the topic "Planting and care" by @edgargonzalez I'll share my experiences and I hope you will learn from me.
What factors should be taken into account when planting seeds or plants?
Type of soil: When planting, you need to consider the type of soil. Seeds or plants do not thrive on clay or sandy soil, they struggle to grow on such soils. The best soil for planting is the loamy soil, so you need to be sure, wherever you want to plant, it has the right kind of soil.
Time and where to plant: You must also consider the type and where to plant. It's always better to plant during the planting season which is the beginning of the rainy season, from march. Example, humidity should always be taken into consideration when planting. Early morning dew helps plants like beans to yield , and also the December and January weather helps beans too, so that period is the right time to plant beans and means grow well mostly in the north due to the soil and the weather there.
Environmental conditions: This is another thing to take into consideration. Does the soil have water, does rain fall well, are there pests over the area that won't allow the plant thrive, etc.
Other factors to be considered are:
• Space to grow
• Water
• Sunlight
• Nutrition
• Oxygen and carbon dioxide
Do you think plants need a lot of care to thrive? Explain your answer.
Plants that are well cared for thrives
What motivates you to plant and what are your goals?
Started my planting with potatoes
Tell us if you have had a bad or good experience planting seeds or plants?
I have had bad and good experiences in planting. My bad experience was that when I planted maize, and the maize was growing, pests are up the leaves destroying it which stunted it's growth. They also ate the pumpkin leaves. The first time I planted pumpkin seed, there was no rainfall for weeks which caused all the pumpkin seed to doe. I bought another seed and planted and this one grew, but pest destroyed it. So I wasn't really encouraged.
My maize isn't growing well due to pests.
I also have good experiences because some of my maize though attacked by pests survived and I have hope of eating it. I have also learnt a lot from my experience and mistakes on how or what to do in the next planting season.
