This is a pretty good question but I couldn't seem to figure out whether you meant coke as in the soda or coke as in cocaine, so I guess I'll have to answer it for both of them.
People get addicted to cocaine because of the euphoric feeling thats associated with its use. Cocaine which can either be snorted or smoked by rolling it up in paper along with weed stimulates the brain into producing high levels of dopamine, it prevents the recycling of this dopamine and causes it to build up in the brain. Dopamine if you don't know is a compound in the brain that's associated with feelings of pleasure. What this means is that the same feeling you get whenever something makes you happy, be it having an orgasm or eating an extremely delicious cake, cocaine gives you all that in synthetic form.
Cocaine becomes addictive because of what it does to your brain over time, when your brain is constantly forced to release more and more amounts of dopamine, the entire reward system of the brain is going to get jacked up and like all drugs, if you take too much then you're going to develop a tolerance to it. This tolerance is what pushes people to overdoses because you'll need to take more and more cocaine to reach the particular level of highness that you'd normally reach with a smaller amount.
As far as people's addiction to coke, the soda. It's not to different from why people get addicted to cocaine. It still boils down to the release of dopamine in the brain except for with soda the effects aren't anywhere near as severe as taking cocaine or heroin. Then there's also the presence of caffeine in soda which is probably the main reason why it's so addictive.
The caffeine basically makes you more alert because it blocks your adenosine receptors and this is the chemical in the brain that's responsible for calming the nerves down and slowing down activity along neural pathways. Thus, the more caffeine you take, the more alert and hyperactive you become.

I hope this helps.
