SLC-S25/W2- Movie Snapshots| Book To Screen (Devdas)
Hello friends I hope you are doing great today I am here to take part in another interesting challenge that is SLC-S25/W2- Movie Snapshots| Book To Screen.
Me watching movie
Do you think, an idea is better written as a book/novel or acted out as a movie? And which do you prefer?
Well the question is bit difficult because when I was not married I preferred to read novels and books because it always gave me realistic thoughts and deepened emotion too.
I was free and can read upto my time limit but obviously more time is needed to read full novel to reach the story ending.
Rather no doubt in movie complete novel is adapted in 3 hours movie and I can see their emotions and feelings more diversely so after marriage I preferred to watch movie rather to read novel.
Watch any movie adapted from a book or novel
The Devdas novel was written in year 1917 in Bengali-language. It was later on converted into movies.
A well known Devdas," which is Bengali romance novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, it's about the very tragic love story about Paro and Devdas although their relationship faces some social constraints and opposed by family.
The Devdas is adapted in a lot of films from 1955 and it's version of 2002 based on iconic. Since in 2002 it's adaptaed in one of most lavish and famous movie of Bollywood named Devdas. It became one of the popular version of the devdas novel.
The Devdas movie is the strong story it reflects the triangular love with pain and sufferings the leading role of Devdas, and the Paro his childhood love the last entry of Chandramukhi as tawaif.
Hence the Devdas self loves and self-absorption couldn't allowed him to return the love for women, which becomes the reason of his tragically self- destruction by excessive use alcohol.
From the movie you have watched above, what can you say about the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book/novel but if you have not read the book then tell us what captivated you the most in the movie and if you were to write a book on the movie how would that part be written to captivate the reader?
Strengths of the Novel over movie
The impact of social commentary:
The novel described clearly the how the rigidity of supper class may affect the lives of people, well if I described it more wider it shows how the honour of someone can be oppersed which leads to control lives of other individuals.
The depth of character:
The influencing role of Chandramukhi was more clearly and shows complexity furthermore the novel explained the flaws of devdas and he became the addict of alcoholism.
The Nuance:
The novel allowed readers to understand the character emotion more deepen hence the motivation more personally.
More focus on theme:
The novel emphasis on core story line as their is more emotional touch in story rather to be showoffs and ornaments of the characters.
Weaknesses of Film Adaptations:
In movie the intensive use of lavish life, song dance unnecessarily it perhaps downs the emotions and there is more showoff of the artificial life.
The film in certain situations emplify the intensely and suffer more rather to connection of audience with character pain.
Although the focus in spectual hence lead to loss of psychological emotions which are present in the novel.
As it's movie and there is touch of modernization leads to losses of originality of character and emotions too.
I have not read this novel but watch movie many times if I would be writer and making it more attractive for audience I would I could reunited paro and devdas because the end of any story should be heart touching and filled the audience with joys because i couldn't bear such suffering sbd pains at the end of movie. I wanted positive end and eliminated the self love which wrapped the devdas.
It's all about my today post.
I would like to invite my friends @jannat12, @m-fdo and @goodybest to take part in the challenge.
@drhira Such a beautiful and emotional post I liked how you shared your thoughts about both book and movie. I also wish Devdas and Paro had a happy ending.
Thank you so much for your precious time to read post and give valuable feedback, i just loved it.
@drhira your welcome dear
Thank you for participating in this challenge of season 25.
I love how you took the picture holding your phone. You said you have not read the book how come you can tell the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book?
Your movie pick was great. I don't know of Bengali is one of the languages spoken in India, because I loved Indian movies back in the days.
The class differences were always portrayed in most of their movies.
