Moves are my sleeping pills. Yes, I watch when I want to sleep and they just make me sleep like a baby. Before a movie can keep me awake, it must be a wonderful moves whose storyline is captivating. And if I finally love a movie, I can watch and rewatch several times. This is true of this particular movie I am about to share now. Immediately I saw this around the world Steemit challenge, my mind ran to this particular movie. Though there are other movies that has attracted me like this one, but for now, I will like to share just this because it ranks number one on my list.

This movie is an American film that is one of the Hollywood's movies. Other movies around the world do also capture my attention, movies from Bollywood, Philippines and others. But here below is my description of the movie I have chosen for the sake of this Steemit challenge.

Perfect Murder

The name of the movie is Perfect Murder. It is a one hour plus movie. Acted by two Movie Award Winners - Micheal Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow. The movie was released in the late 1990 and it instantly became number 1 on the movie box chart. The film is such that you hardly know the next turn of events and even who is the villain. In this case the villain is someone you never expected it to be. It is filled with thrill and pulsating suspense.

Talk about the main idea of the movie

The movie was about a seemingly happy and successful couple. But beneath the facade comes the real problem eroding their relationship. The husband was into bond and interest trading and the market was seriously against him. His funds were being drained, his securities couldn't cover his debt. He was now looking for a way to get out of it.

The wife on the other hand cheats on the husband with an ex convict. She was not aware of her lovers status. She was tired of their marriage. She also had a death insurance policy of $100m, payable to her husband in the case of sudden death.

The husband in order to get the funds fast decided to kill her wife using her ex convict lover as the murderer while paying him a huge sum of $500k

	Emily Bradford Taylor, The wife of Stephen who was cheating on her husband and had the death insurance.
	David Shaw, Emily's extra marital lover and the ex convict who claimed to be an artist too.
	Raquel Martinez Emily's friend and workmate. She discusses her problems with her.
	Mr Bobby, He is the deputy director of Commodity trades commission. He told Emily of the financial crisis he was facing.

Describe the plot and setting of the movie.

Stephen Taylor knew his wife was cheating on him, but did not know the person.

At a dinner event he saw his wife with a stranger in a place away from the public eye. The wife introduced him to the husband but he caught the chemistry between them.

He made enquiries and found out his phone number and gave him a call telling him when he will come to his place to see some of his paintings.

While in David's house, he made it known to him that he was sleeping with his wife which was gross. But there is something he will do for him, and he will let it slide. What is that? 'killing his wife for him and in return, will pay him the sum of $500k. $100k mobilization and the balance after doing the job.'

Taylor arranged for David to come to his house to plot how the murder will take place. He left the back door opened, kept the entrance key at an agreed place and told him what the wife would exactly be doing then.

He would not be in the house but will go out to play cards with his friends which he regularly does.

David sent another person to do the job. Unfortunately Emily stabbed him while defending herself.

The husband was the first to come back and saw she was still alive. He immediately spoilt the back entrance key to avoid being suspected. He searched the pocket of the invader, took the key he saw and added it back to her wife's bunch of keys not knowing that it was the dead man's house key. He originally removed the backdoor key from her bunch and kept it somewhere for David. Meanwhile, Emily had a meeting with Bobby who told her about the financial situation of the husband and why it is possible for him to mastermind her death.

That murder of Taylor's wife did not succeed. However, David asked Mr Taylor to pay him the balance of the money and threatened to tell his wife about his plot against her, thus trying to blackmail him.

He agreed to pay the balance which he did. But why David was trying to run away with the money, Taylor followed him into the train and stabbed him to death in his cabin.

He checked David's pocket and saw a waybill receipt from David to his wife.He realized that it must have been the recorded conversation about their plans to kill Emily.

On getting to the house, he quickly checked the mails and saw the one David sent to Emily intact. He quickly removed it and kept both the money gotten back from David and mail in his house safe. He never knew that she had opened the mail, heard the recorded message and kept it back just the way they delivered it.

He now tried to make the wife feel guilty by telling her that her lover was an ex convict. He also got back her wedding ring from David's house. He now suggested that they get off again from a fresh start.

Emily now decided to get some food for their consumption rather than eating out which Taylor agreed to.

On her way out, she reminded Taylor of the need to change the door locks since she does not have her key. It was then he decided to check where he kept the key for David and saw the key right there. He came out holding it in his hand not knowing that his wife was still at home. She has not gone out yet.
Questions from the wife ensued which led to a fight between them. Emily who was already prepared had a gun and in self defense, shot the husband to death.

She called the Police and played the recorded conversation between the husband and David while they were planning to kill her.

If you were the Director of the movie what would you do differently?

I love the twist of the movie. It was not the usual plot of the lover cheating on the rich woman. That gave it the suspense that followed.

Additionally, I would have loved to see David going back to prison for the same offense committed.

I would have also loved let Stephen remain alive for a moment while his plot is being exposed, his business crumble and then finally taken to prison and be possibly executed. But in any case, he still faced his execution and by his wife instead of him executing his wife.

Note that I rewatched this movie in Movie box, but the first time I watched it, it was in a CD plate which we had. My husband had bought it before our marriage.
