"Tell your story #54" Friendship

Introduction

Hello steemians, greetings from my humble self @onlyonefave. I trust we had a lovely weekend. On this week's contest of "Tell your story" by @ruthjoe I'd love to share a story of what happened to me recently.

What happened?

I met a friend on social media group chat around May last year. We didn't know each other before this day. So basically, he was a stranger. He texted me asking a question about school which i answered politely. According to him, the polite manner which i answered him in made him take an interest in me, because other girls in the group chat were rude, according to him.
He proposed friendship and i agreed. We started talking often, day and night. He told about himself, personal things and "secrets"
I told him mine too, since we were friends (so i thought).
After some months we got really close, i could confide in him and he could confide in me too. Things were great till we finally met this year. He was living in another state and relocated here for school. We met, and started going to school together.

The Feud

Along the line, we stopped hanging out together, he had a new friend group which i wasn't jealous or bothered about. We still kept in touch.
One day we had a misunderstanding and we just stopped talking. Weeks later he reached out to me but his manner of approach wasn't comfortable with me so i snubbed him.
This made him really upset and threatened to spill my secrets and tell people online.
I was pissed because a misunderstanding shouldn't lead to exposing secrets, i felt that was really childish. I started regretting the friendship because the person i knew, turns out I didn't even know him at all. I spoke to an elderly person who told me to calm down and have a conversation with my friend.

Settlement

I texted him that we should meet, he came. We talked, apologized to each other. But i told him we can't be friends anymore because he threatened to harm me just because of a misunderstanding. It was really hard but i had to let the friendship go.

What have you learned from it?

These are the lessons i learned from that friendship:
I hope you can learn from it too.

🌹You can never know a person too well, never let your guard down.
🌹Some secrets should remain secrets, you can only share with people you really trust.
🌹No matter how hard it is, try to let some people go. It doesn't mean you're now enemies but just for sanity sake.
🌹 Everybody cannot be like you. The things you do for people, they might not be able to do the same for you. Taking me as a case study, i wouldn't have ever thought of doing that to him no matter how bad the fight was, but he threatened to do it to me.
🌹Know who you call your friends, study the person well. I know no amount of time is enough to study a person as they may change anytime but just try to do your part.
