Yes I think it's important to establish limits and expectations in a partnership. Boundaries help maintain love and respect between two individuals much like the rules we have in our homes to keep things organized. Both parties feel secure and content when they are aware of what is and is not acceptable. For instance it's common to expect your partner to be sincere respectful and considerate. Without boundaries arguments and misunderstandings can occur frequently and one person may feel taken advantage of or disregarded.

Establishing limits does not entail dominating the other individual. It just entails being aware of each other's comfort zones and allowing each other space. For example it should be appreciated if a girl needs some alone time or wants to spend time with her friends. Khalid one of my relatives serves in the Pakistan Air Force as a Group Captain. Asma was the woman he married. They were first quite content together. Asma was a liberal contemporary girl. She had joined a gym since she like staying in shape. Khalid had no issue with her decision and respected it. In the past they seemed to get along well and enjoy each other's company. However little miscommunications began to develop between them over time which they both chose to overlook since they believed they were unimportant.

Khalid made numerous attempts to apologize. He met her parents sent her a message and even broke down in tears in front of her. He sincerely wished to make everything right. Asma eventually consented to give him another try after they had been apart for a year. They each took a seat discussed their limits and made a commitment to better understand one another. They are once again leading contented and tranquil lives today.
