And why not

I was tagged by the wonderful @emmabritt for the 'And why not' contest in the Ladies Universe community, and I couldn't resist the challenge! This theme truly resonates with me, exploring the power of believing in yourself even when the world sees you differently. Here's my poetic take on why we should always embrace our unique path.

A voice within, it whispers free,
A light tired of its chains, you see.
A trophy deemed worthless, thrown aside,
Yet maybe it's uniquely mine, a special pride.
An inborn gift that makes me who I am,
That special thing I love, a gentle, quiet calm.
A treasure I'm willing to share, yet none find grand.
Do I let it out, or keep the play within my hand?
Do I still remain in the box, or finally break free
From chains of criticism, asking: And why not me?

The beauty within calls to be set free,
Like the blue bird among his white species.
His feathers, a unique gift, help him camouflage,
His hunting style, a much safer stage.
His unique style's seen as taboo by the rest,
They say he's not of a feather, or shouldn't nest.

His blue wings spread wide, he wonders why—
Is it him they hate, or truths they can't deny?
He looks to them for beauty, sees only ordinary light.
He looks within, resolves to be himself, day and night.
You can't make a true difference blending in with the crowd,
They may despise his feathers, his taboo hunt, curse his soul aloud.
Or see him as a stain – but he's okay with that, he's gold.
For gold stands out in the soil, shining bright, never lost in the plot.

His resolve, a lonely path, he knows he'll tread,
A choice to make his quality seen, though rarely read.
For diamonds don't shine at first sight, unseen, unheard,
But a radiant truth, worth every single word.
This bright way he lays, not to make others frown,
But to show the rich quality held deep within their own.
A question to that thought: to show the good you have,
And why not now, cast off the fear's tight grav?
So fear not what the selfish hearts may think,
For one good head stands taller on the brink.
Better than nine spoilt, who miss the golden gleam,
Lost in their shadows, lost in a superficial dream.

So what they think, it truly doesn't count,
If goodness in your quality does mount.
No need to fear the traits that make you gleam,
You're special, more than words, a vivid dream.
Let doubts dissolve, let courage light the way,
To let your inner light shine bright today.
The final question, echoing through the air:
And why not now, embrace the self you bear?
