"SLC-S24/W1 - Tangled Emotion | The Powerful Conversation".
Hello my dear friends. I am one of your friends. My name is Kartik Agarwal. I live in India. I am going to participate in the challenge. I like this topic very much. Contest host by @sitaraindaryas . So let's begin without wasting time
Have you ever successfully negotiated a good deal? What worked for you – persistence, politeness, or a bit of humor?
.
This has happened to me many times that I have not bargained on any goods because whenever my mother sends me to buy goods, she tells me that whatever price the shopkeeper tells me, I must bargain because shopkeepers quote more money, so I have also bargained with shopkeepers many times when I go to buy household goods and this bargaining has always been effective for me because I have bargained many times on the price quoted by the shopkeepers and I have saved a lot of money. Sometimes shopkeepers bargain very comfortably and sometimes they bargain more in a humorous way, all shopkeepers are not the same. But some shopkeepers are adamant about their rates and they do not bargain at all. And some shopkeepers are of very polite nature, they do not get angry at the bargaining done by you, rather they support you and reduce the rate and give you the goods.
Do you believe it is fair to negotiate prices in local or small shops? Where do we draw the line between saving money and respecting hard work?
My belief is correct that local and small shopkeepers bargain on prices because big shopkeepers do not bargain on prices and neither do they talk in a proper manner and get angry if bargained too much. It is appropriate to bargain on prices with small shopkeepers because small shopkeepers never get angry, they understand their customers and respect them, so small shopkeepers never get angry on bargaining and always happily give goods to customers with respect. Small shopkeepers know very well how to save money and sell goods by working hard.
Compared to big shopkeepers, small shopkeepers are always polite and know how to respect and honour their customers very well. Customers never get nervous in talking to local and small shopkeepers and they easily get the bargain of their choice, due to which the shopkeeper is happy and the customer is also happy.
What is your strategy when you ask for a discount? Are you the sweet talker, the cool smiler, or the straight talker?
When we ask for a discount from a shopkeeper, there is no politics in it. It is a humble gesture of agreement between the shopkeeper and the customer because neither business nor shopping is done by politics. Whether it is a small shopkeeper or a big shopkeeper, no one will ever do politics in the matter of business and neither should customers ever do politics. Bargaining is the right of the customer while buying goods. A shopkeeper knows very well that this customer will definitely bargain for the goods that he has come to buy, so we will also have to support him and bargain and provide the goods to the customer at low prices. While shopping, the customer should also keep in mind that he should shop with a very calm nature and bargain with a very calm and stable mind so that the shopkeeper can also understand you and give you the goods you have bought after bargaining.
What is the most unexpected or funny response you have ever heard from a shopper? Some answers will stay with us forever, share your funniest memories!
Till now I have heard this unexpected and humorous conversation from any shopkeeper that brother there will be a loss in the goods, brother I am not able to buy, brother I will incur a loss etc. etc. because while bargaining the shopkeeper repeats all these things again and again. These things keep on repeating on the shopkeeper's face again and again and the shopkeeper gives the same answer again and again.
A similar incident happened with me too, my mother had given me money and asked me to bring bananas and told me to bring good bananas and bargain for the price. I went to the shop to buy bananas and when I started bargaining with the shopkeeper, he said that there will be a loss, I am not able to buy, do not reduce the price, see the goods, they are very good etc. etc. He was commenting on all these things again and again but on my repeated requests he reduced the price and I got the benefit.
Funny Incident
Once my mother asked me to bring paneer masala and said to check the packing date. It should be of this month because old packing gets spoiled, so I said ok I will check.
When I asked the shopkeeper to give me paneer masala, the box he gave me had the packing date of one and a half month ago,
so I told him that no, I want the one with recent packing date. Then the shopkeeper got confused and said to me, beta, sit for a while, come with me, I will make fresh masala and give it to you. Hearing this I felt shy, and there were other customers there, they all started laughing. Then I also smiled, then I brought the same masala and came home.
Who do you usually side with in pricing debates – the customer seeking value or the shopper trying to survive? Why do you lean that way? Personal experience or theory?
Sometimes in the pricing debate we feel that maybe the shopkeeper is not making any profit and is incurring a loss but still the customer always tries to work from his side and the shopkeeper who wants the right price for his product always remains firm on his point and stands firmly that the price cannot be reduced but after listening to his customer and to satisfy him sometimes the shopkeeper reduces the price. I am not saying this on the side of the shopkeeper, I have felt this many times and this happens with everyone in real life sometime or the other somewhere because mostly this happens that in the pricing debate.
I would like to invite my three friends @chant , @fannyescobar , @ahsansharif
