Singing with a Microphone for the First Time — "For You" By Teni ft Davido
It's another Tuesday with good vibes. I'm still working on my music video on some Nigerian hit jams. It's not that easy to train your voice for a particular song so it won't be plain when sung. In this post, I'll be relating an experience where I got to sing using a microphone in an event. Though it was more like Demo as there was no audience, I was given an opportunity to sing with a DJ.
It was my idea though. I just wanted to check how my voice would sound on the mic. The mic wasn't really giving but I did something anyways. I'm a lover of entertainment and vibes and this social life of mine is made possible because of Steemit. Steemit exposed me to the light and I came to love being extroverted as I was more introverted before joining.
The bone of contention in this post is that I did a video of myself singing a popular Nigerian song — "For You" by Teni with a fitness member in our fitness training club. It was our first anniversary and we were told to perform anything that would add vibes and colour to the event. We were shy to do so in public. It was after everyone had left we rocked to check if we could be fit to handle a microphone on stage.

The DJ was adamant and refused to give me the audio of the song because his work time was over. He gave me a whooping audio and vocals to sing. Though my voice wasn't really echoing, I enjoyed the harmony and connection the song had on me. I started by begging the DJ to play For you by Teni ft Davido. The song is a song sung by two artiste as it has this message of the male gender making a promise to the female gender that he's going to give her his world and all the money he has.

In her music video, she portrayed being in prison waiting for the love of her life to come through for her. In her lyrics, the man has vowed to put his life on the line to come to her rescue as love can reach the sky. Still in her music video, there were scenes where her boyfriend helped her escape from prison and they came together to enjoy the life they once missed. The man did everything to ensure she gets the happiness she deserves. These are the lyrics.....

While handling my microphone, I entertained myself while waiting for the DJ to change to the song. Immediately I turned, it was the song. I placed myself in a comfortable position and then started singing with the artiste. I put some vibes while singing since I was the only one. Later, I saw the lady come from far to join me in singing. This is where the collabo comes in.
While she sang with an Alto voice, I blended tenor with treble. While using the microphone, I had to cover its mouth as I couldn't hear myself. It was as if I wasn't heard as it was a mixture of audio and vocals. At some point, I had to allow the voice of the artiste to flow.
These are what helped me conquer the fear of being uncomfortable or changing my tone in a bad way. I need to hold that breath much longer. I started on a normal pitch and then harmonized with her when she came. My inability to decipher my voice made me lose control at some point.
She then came and gave a blend like the female artiste who used Alto. In the part where the Rapping was some, I maintained Steeze and composure. After the song, another song was played but I wasn't really familiar with the lyrics of the song that's why I didn't come up plain.
I didn't know she was doing a video with my phone after the song we sang. It was just fun and viby. Aside from the singing which wasn't an official song video, we got ourselves entertained as we were able to sing freely on the mic for the first time. Knowing how to handle and use a microphone is very essential when singing on stage.
Your voice would definitely change if you're not careful. What you've been singing on acapella would be entirely different...... You need a lot of composure.

Exactly, the DJ no gree me oh. He said it's either I sing it like that or forget about it. Anyways, check my Acapella below and rate my voice though it's treble and I'm still working on it. I don't have to be perfect before sharing. I can only improve when others rate and comment. Do you sing?
I feel the joy it brings, you swing, that big cloud in the background distracts a bit. I wonder, like @sbamsoneu, how it sounds if you sing it without music and if there is some 'love and warmth' that makes one believe these aren't just words.
