The dangers of button batteries on the children
Introduction to battery types and their chemical content
A battery is a component that can provide electrical current at its external terminals (the cathode, which is the positive terminal, and the anode, the negative one) to power electrical devices due to a chemical reaction inside the battery. Based on this, it is called electrochemical source of electric current.
Types of Batteries
Primary batteries or non-rechargeable cells like alkaline, magnesium and zinc batteries
Secondary batteries or chargeable cells like lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries
The danger of button shape batteries
Button shape batteries which is flat circular coin like batteries They're small enough to swallow, which makes them very dangerous to children. Beside that, they can cause choking, they contain dangerous chemicals.
How to keep children safe
-Secure the battery hub with a screw makes it impossible to open.
-Safe disposal of the batteries in a locked box
-Routine checks on the children's toys for battery leakages
