Alcuni anni fa lo scrittore Alessandro Zarlatti, sul suo blog, scrisse un pezzo piuttosto severo sugli italiani che frequentavano l'Avana.
Pur non condividendo in toto cio' che scrisse e' innegabile come certe situazioni siano riscontrabili in ogni parte dell'isola dove ci siano nostri compatrioti.
Occorre fare una premessa; ognuno e' libero di farsi i cazzi propri, ognuno e' il boss del proprio borsillo, ogni testa e' un piccolo mondo.

Visto pero' che Cuba ci permette di farci i cazzi nostri, di gestire il nostro borsillo con parsimonia e che accetta tutti questi mondi andrebbe sempre trattata con rispetto.
Perche' poi quelli che assumono certi comportamenti sono poi gli stessi che tirano merda sull'isola sia quando hanno i loro piedi sopra che, sulla rete, quando tornano nel bel paese.
Questo pezzo non da' giudizi di merito, non e' il mio compito e non me ne puo' fottere di meno, semplicemente riporto due situazioni, due modi di vivere, due tendenze consolidate.
Parlo per Las Tunas ma ci metterei entrambe le mani sul fuoco che la situazione e' uguale in tutta l'isola.

La comunita' italiana della mia città di adozione cubana annovera fra i suoi adepti gente piena di "buffi".
Buffi = Debiti.
Buffi contratti prima della partenza con banche e affini per potersi permettere un certo tipo di vacanza (problemi loro), buffi contratti a Cuba con altri italiani o, ad esempio, con un mio conoscente non italiano che vengono poi onorati ( a volte, non sempre) a babbo morto e sepolto.
Ad esempio il sottoscritto parte sempre con il doppio dei soldi che preventiva di spendere, perche' non si sa mai cosa puo' accadere.
Perche' uno che va a Cuba e ci resta parecchi mesi ha bisogno di fare buffi?

Le ragioni sono varie, la principale e' che, conosciuta una fanciulla, ovviamente l'ultima Madonna rimasta sul mercato, le acquistano scooter, lavatrici, televisori, frigoriferi e via discorrendo fino a rimanere senza soldi dovendo poi contare sulla generosita' altrui.
Ora, io credo che sia legittimo aiutare nel modo in cui uno ritiene consono chi si vuole, a patto pero' di poterselo permettere.
Prima mangio io, poi, se ho voglia e me ne restano, aiuto chi decido di aiutare.

Invece vedo gente che regala motorini e poi cena con un panino con pescado del rio fritto.
Anche in questo caso direi....va bene....cazzi loro, se pero' poi non dovessero chiedere aiuto economico ai loro connazionali, oltre che ad amici e parenti a casa.
In due casi, durante l'ultimo giro li hanno chiesti pure a me, gente che conoscevo appena o poco piu', immaginatevi come e' andata a finire.

In piu' conosco italiani, davvero brave persone, che hanno aiutato, hanno prestato, non parlo di pochi spiccioli, sono due anni che aspettano la restituzione della cifra da parte di gente che regolarmente si ritrovano davanti a Cuba.
Cioe' prima mi restituisci il grano e poi, eventualmente, torni a Cuba.
Ma ad essere troppo buoni davvero si rischia di passare per coglioni.

Poi ci sono quegli italiani che, davvero, riescono a vivere con poco.
Sotto certi punti di vista li trovo meravigliosi nella loro ingegnosita'.
Ora che gli alberghi costano la meta' delle case de renta bivaccano in quelle strutture dove a 5 euro al giorno hanno anche il desajuno.
Desajuno da cui asportano tutto il possibile, con tanto di cacharra, per risolvere il pranzo, per la cena trovano un posto in citta' che venda qualcosa a poco; potaje, ajaco, cose simili, lo acquistano per 150/200 pesos e risolvono magari riscaldandoselo in camera.

Sanno tutti i posti in tutte le citta' cubane dove spendere di meno, viaggiano sui camiones, non so come se la sbrighino con le fanciulle (se ancora esercitano...) ma me lo posso immaginare.
A volte si tratta di gente che porta a casa una bella pensione, ma il vivere in un certo modo e' diventato uno stile irrinunciabile, sono convinto che in Italia si muovano nello stesso modo.
Uno mi ha detto giustamente; "Con quello che risparmio di riscaldamento passo l'inverno a Cuba", come dargli torto?

Si fermano parecchi mesi ed ovunque vanno cercano il modo di spendere il meno possibile, ripeto le mie sono soltanto constatazioni, non mi permetto di dare giudizi di merito.
Certo, io mi muovo in modo differente ma questo non mi rende certo migliore di loro, soltanto diverso.
Tenete conto che poi io racconto il 10% di quello che vedo e di quello che so.
Poi alla fine....ognuno se la gioca come vuole.

A premise must be made; everyone is free to do their own thing, everyone is the boss of their own bag, every head is a little world.

However, given that Cuba allows us to do our own thing, to manage our bag sparingly and that it accepts all these worlds, it should always be treated with respect.
Because those who adopt certain behaviors are the same ones who throw shit on the island both when they have their feet on it and, on the net, when they return to the beautiful country.
This piece does not give judgments of merit, it is not my job and I could not care less, I simply report two situations, two ways of life, two consolidated tendencies.
I speak for Las Tunas but I would bet both hands on the fire that the situation is the same throughout the island.

The Italian community of my adopted city in Cuba includes among its followers people full of "buffi".
Buffi = Debts.
Buffi contracts before departure with banks and the like to be able to afford a certain type of vacation (their problems), funny contracts in Cuba with other Italians or, for example, with a non-Italian acquaintance of mine that are then honored (sometimes, not always) after the fact.
For example, the undersigned always leaves with double the money that he plans to spend, because you never know what can happen.
Why does someone who goes to Cuba and stays there for several months need to act buffi?

There are various reasons, the main one is that, having met a girl, obviously the last Madonna left on the market, they buy scooters, washing machines, televisions, refrigerators and so on until they run out of money and then have to rely on the generosity of others.
Now, I believe that it is legitimate to help in the way one deems appropriate whoever one wants, provided that one can afford it.
First I eat, then, if I feel like it and I have some left, I help whoever I decide to help.

Instead I see people giving away scooters and then having dinner with a sandwich with fried pescado del rio.
Even in this case I would say.... okay.... their problem, if however they then did not ask for financial help from their fellow countrymen, as well as friends and relatives at home.
In two cases, during the last round they also asked me, people I barely knew or little more, imagine how it ended.

In addition, I know Italians, really good people, who have helped, who have lent, I'm not talking about a few pennies, they've been waiting for two years for the return of the amount from people who regularly find themselves in front of Cuba.
That is, first you give me back the wheat and then, eventually, you go back to Cuba.
But if you're really too good, you risk being considered idiots.

Then there are those Italians who, really, manage to live on very little.
From some points of view, I find them wonderful in their ingenuity.
Now that hotels cost half as much as rental houses, they camp out in those structures where for 5 euros a day they also have a desajuno.
Desajuno from which they take everything possible, with a lot of cacharra, to solve lunch, for dinner they find a place in the city that sells something cheap; potaje, ajaco, similar things, they buy it for 150/200 pesos and solve it perhaps by heating it in their room.

They know all the places in all the Cuban cities where you can spend less, they travel on trucks, I don't know how they deal with girls (if they still practice...) but I can imagine.
Sometimes they are people who bring home a nice pension, but living in a certain way has become an indispensable style, I am convinced that in Italy they move in the same way.
One rightly said to me; "With what I save on heating I spend the winter in Cuba", how can you blame him?

They stay for several months and wherever they go they look for a way to spend as little as possible, I repeat mine are only observations, I do not allow myself to give judgments of merit.
Of course, I move in a different way but this certainly does not make me better than them, only different.
Keep in mind that then I tell 10% of what I see and what I know.
Then in the end... everyone plays it as they want.
