How Palantir Will Build the American Social Credit System

The new system will merge all disparate data on Americans spread across numerous federal agencies into one unified database and use algorithmic software to analyze and predict behavior and identify citizens considered “threats”. If there is ever a precursor to a U.S. social credit system this is it. Palantir will use their Gothman platform, already used by LEOs for predictive policing and Intel agencies for spying on enemies and supply lines, to monitor this national database. As I mentioned in Is Social Media a DARPA project? Palantir itself was founded with In-Q-Tel (CIA VC firm) seed money for the express purpose of enhancing the government’s dragnet surveillance capabilities at the same time DARPA launched the Lifelog project and total information awareness in the ramp up to the war on terror. They helped the NSA conduct warrantless surveillance on citizen’s email, PMs, search history, online documents, webcam pictures, IP addresses and social media accounts by providing Gotham platform to consolidate and analyze data intercepted through the NSA XKEY score program. They used the cover of philanthropy to provide the NOPD with a secret predictive policing program that the police used to analyze a gang database much like the one still maintained by the NYPD and provide individualized crime forecasts using associations among people, places, cars, addresses and social media posts. The program which they called social network analysis was initially run by a former CIA agent, but NOPD ended this program in 2018. Other predictive policing programs, like the one used in Pasco County, FL were definitely used to harass families added to the database and cite them for minor code violations in an effort to force them out of the county. This was ruled unconstitutional in 2021 and voluntarily suspended. The LAPD also used Palantir’s software under the LASER program from 2011 to 2019 to target both areas and individuals who were added to a list of chronic offenders and assigned points based on past history. It is not hard to see how such programs can be used against Americans, even without rap sheets, at the federal level for expressing views and opinions the FBI considers domestic violent extremism such as, for instance, resisting COVID vaxx mandates. The same data analytic company has also sold its Gotham software to the IRS to enhance financial surveillance of taxpayers, especially their criminal investigation unit, and was awarded a $99 million contract for 7 years in 2018 which they recently extended. If dragnet surveillance of our internet usage, financial records, location data, and biometric ID (mandated by the REAL ID Act) is combined with minority report style predictive policing we get the basic framework for a social credit system. Trump’s March EO to Eliminate Information Silos does not exclude any agencies from interagency data sharing so it presumably includes section 702 data ‘incidentally’ gathered from American citizens that is already shared with domestic LEOs, transaction history gathered by FinCen and considered "extremism indicators”, and the data DHS agencies buy from data brokers. In the future, people who step out of line won’t be punished by agents but algorithms. Go to the wrong protest; have your bank account frozen. Say the wrong thing on social media; get added to a DHS watch list that entails being harassed and gang stalked by your local PD. No due process required. And unlike agents, algorithms will make the effects immediate and irreversible.

Side Note: Both Alex Karp and Peter Thiel, are Bilderberg Steering Committee members who are meeting in Stockholm this month likely to hash out the details of this centralized federal database the Trump Admin is pushing forward.
