Equality and Equity Both Lose
When it comes to setting up a economy / social system we really need to stop thinking in terms of Equality or Equity.
The problem with that is that they are close to the base female way of thinking and the base male way of thinking.
Women want everyone to be fed. Everyone to have enough. All the children to be happy. Or, something close to Equity.
Men want to compete, to find hierarchy and competition (meaningful challenge). It is the way men get better, to know their place and status. Or, something close to Equality (of opportunity).
The problem is both of these concepts are wrong, and VERY prone to being abused, or even subverted for evil purposes.
Equity or Equality of Outcome - Women's choice?
No matter who gathered more, or hunted more, everyone in the group should have enough to eat. This is the thought of the mothers in the tribe. And while there is more than enough food for everyone this is an excellent outcome and good rule of thumb.
The biggest problem today, is we don't live in a tribe, and we often do not have more than enough food. (speaking historically) So, the women want their nuclear family (tiny tribe) to be better off than other families. And thus, women look for bigger houses, more expensive cars, all the trappings of luxury, and there is no limit to how high they can go.
So, women want equity, at least that is what they say on the surface, but "secretly" they want competition for them to win.
Unfortunately, those who do not win, like to play victim, and say shouldn't we split the food fairly?
Equality of Opportunity - Men's choice?
Men in the tribe like to compete. Good, honest competition makes everyone stronger. And lets people know where they are at in the hierarchy. Even if you aren't the best, you are still in the tribe. (unless you are evil, steal, or don't play fair)
Again, when we lose the tribe, then we have unlimited competition, where it is all out, win or die trying. We also have people who will cheat and kill to get to the top.
And, no matter what the game, there will always be those who play it better, MUCH BETTER.
There will be those who clean up, with 80% of the gains. While the rest live on the 20% that is left.
If we do not have the comradery of the tribe, then there is no limits to how far people will go.
The board cannot be made level
If we are all individuals competing on the world's stage, then there will be those who are FAR superior at whatever game is laid out. In professional football any one of the NFL players can stomp any 10 guys into the ground, if they are playing football. It isn't even close.
It is the same with other games like Monopoly or Chess.
And this is games with very strict rules, and cheating is punished. In the real world, cheating, if you don't get caught, is very lucrative.
When we look at IQ:
We see that 15 points more of IQ gives one a HUGE advantage in almost everything in life. If thinking is involved, then an average IQ person at 100 fails at all tests compared to someone with a "rather low" (compared to genius) 115 IQ.
Further, we add the Pareto Principal:
Which shows that the person tops in their field creates the MAJORITY of the output in that field. Just 20% of the workers produce 80% of the output. The rest of the workers might as well just lay down. Especially the bottom 20%. (Which often make things worse. )
These examples show that there can be no fair competition, where everyone has a chance. And we may want to look at why the great majority of people aren't just starving.
And we may want to look into why fathers wrestling with their sons doesn't always end up with dad just pounding them into the dirt.
We would probably do better if we gathered back into tribes. Where we can use the expertise and talents of many people to create a synergy that is better than any one person.
Further, most people have a limit to how much stuff they want. There is a limit to how much each person can eat.
It is really interesting to note that there is a group of people who have really gone out of their way to make people want more and more and more. Shows like the Card-ass-ians are to make you feel inadequate and unhappy with your current situation. (they are not rich enough to live the lives they show us. There are many others feeding them, and making it so they can look like that.)
The same group of people want us to waste our lives consuming, and getting fat on poisonous processed foods. T.H.E.Y. want us killing and fighting each other. So, that we do not notice that T.H.E.Y. are behind all the evil and so much of the hardships that are in our lives.
One of the big things to solving Equality and Equity is getting rid of evil from the system. After that, seems will seemingly work so much better. Even the old structures will work better, although we will quickly replace them with even better systems.
The solution to that poster is to pay to watch the game like everyone else in the stands. That is called accountability. The players aren't working for free and neither should anyone else.
