The May contest #2 by sduttaskitchen|Child labour!
What we mean 'child labour' in simple terms is nothing but engaging children preferably under 12 years of age to do mainly manual work in the domestic or institutional or in the factory premises.
Often they are engaged mostly from 4 to 8 hours of work. What is alarming is even this time frame is expansive in certain crucial work places like small manufacturing or repairing work premises. The pitiest situation is they are very poorly compensated for their hard manual labour.
Though awareness on child labour is prevailing , the situation go mostly uncared for. The main reason for the child labour is poverty and illiteracy. The prevailing poverty drives them to work to earn atleast a supportive monetary gain. Poverty go hand in hand with illiteracy and lack of education.
Awareness that the children need education should be spread among the poor besides extending supportive economic upliftment of the family as well as society.
Child labour can be minimised by taking strict vigilance in domestic and establishment sectors by the appropriate authorities. Free education with the mid day meals is one such step to stop child labour. Punitive action should be taken against those who engage child labour.
These are some positive steps to contain child labour.
Very many thanks!
