Incredible India monthly contest of August #2| Elements that are likely to dissipate over time.
INTRODUCTION
Life does not stand still. It moves. If you close your eyes for just a short time, it will pass you like a bus that does not stop at a bus stop. Look around – what you see today may not be there tomorrow. The way we live, talk, work, even eat has been changing. Some changes are sweet, some are bitter, but that is reality. So as you read this, ask yourself: which part of our life will soon disappear? What has changed beyond repair? And which one is helping or harming us? Let us talk.
WHICH ELEMENTS DO YOU THINK WILL DISAPPEAR FROM OUR LIFESTYLE IN THE UPCOMING ERA?
life is moving fast without brakes. What is happening today will not be what will happen tomorrow. Look around you – everything is changing. The food we eat, the way we work, even the way we love each other, all have been transforming gradually. So, if you ask me which elements will leave our lifestyle in the coming era, they are plenty.
First, cash money. You see that paper note and coins we still hold? It will soon turn to a museum artifact. Digital payment has taken over. From transfer to crypto to scan-to-pay, the thing is not giving space. Even sachet water sellers now accept transfers. That is it. Banks themselves are pushing it – less paper, more clicks. Soon, if you carry large cash, people will look at you like a caveman.
Second, face-to-face everything. Before, if you wanted to buy shoes, you would walk to the market. If you wanted to discuss business, you would have a sit-down meeting. Now? One click, you have ordered shoes from China. One video call, you have closed a deal with someone in London. With AI, VR and all this technology coming, soon you could be sitting in your living room but it would feel like you are in front of someone. All these “let’s meet physically” will reduce greatly.
Third, old-school skills. Things like letter writing, manual sewing, farming with hoe and cutlass, all these traditional methods will fade. Machines are taking over. Even farming now has drones spraying farms, robots planting seeds. Who will still carry a hoe to sweat? Except you want to do it for tradition or culture, it will not be common again.
Another one is long patience. Life now is fast-paced. People no longer like to wait. We are used to instant messages, instant results, instant entertainment. The future will worsen it. People will not even know how to cope with delays. Patience will be like a rare skill.
HAS OUR LIFESTYLE UNDERGONE SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES AS A RESULT OF VARIOUS TRANSFORMATIONS? PLEASE JUSTIFY YOUR PERSPECTIVE.
if I tell you the truth, the change we have seen is huge. The lifestyle of our parents and ours is like heaven and earth.
Look at communication. Before, we used to send message, through later writing, put it in an envelope, and take it to the post office. The letter would take days, weeks, sometimes months. Now? You can talk to someone in Australia, live on video. That is change.
Look at work. Before, work was strictly office-based. You would wear a tie, go to the company, sign in, and work till 5. Now remote work exists. Some people earn a living from companies in other countries, and they have never seen each others face before not even once.
Entertainment has also changed. Before, it was radio, black-and-white TV, or village drama. Now? Netflix, YouTube, TikTok. Everything is on your phone. The way we consume information has transformed. It is no longer only big news stations that hold power. Social media decides what trends and what people believe.
Relationships have also changed. Before, marriage was strictly family-arranged, with community pressure. Now, people date online and marry someone they met on an app. Even love letters have turned into emojis.
Health care? Before, when someone is sick, they would try local herbs or wait until the matter became serious before going to the hospital. Now, with a (smartwatch), you can know your heart rate, sleep pattern, and health statistics. That is transformation.
ACCORDING TO YOU, WHICH ARE THE USEFUL CHANGES, AND WHICH ARE NOT?
Not all change is good. Some are pure blessings, others are trouble in fine clothes.
Useful changes:
Medical advancement – This one is unquestionable. People live longer now. Operations that were impossible before are now successful. Vaccines, treatment, diagnosis – it is a big plus.
Technology makes life easier. You bank Online it helps you manage money from home. Social media connects you with friends and family. All these tools save time and give chances to people who didn’t have them before.
Education access – You can be in a village, learn coding online, and get a certificate from a top university. Knowledge has been democratized. Before, if you did not have money or live in the city, you could not dream of such.
Awareness and advocacy – The internet has given a voice to those who previously had no platform. Oppression, injustice, abuse, all get exposed now. People are more aware of their rights.
Not useful changes:
Over-dependence on technology – People cannot do simple things without gadgets. Calculators for basic addition, GPS for streets they have passed ten times. It is killing basic survival sense.
Social disconnection – Ironically, we are “connected” online but disconnected offline. Families sit together but everyone is on their phone. Real human bonds are suffering.
Misinformation – As information is easy to spread, fake news easily poisons minds. Lies now travel faster than truth.
Consumerism and waste – Everything is buy, upgrade, throw away. The environment pays the price. In the old days, people knew how to manage, repair, and respect resources.
Mental health crisis – This modern fast-paced life is affecting people’s minds. Anxiety, depression, loneliness are increasing even as technology “improves” life.

Change does not wait for anybody. Some will work for us, some not. The real issue is: how will we adapt without losing what makes us human? As the future rushes towards us, let us enjoy the sweet parts but protect the values that matter – patience, connection, and sense.
