Yes, I believe advanced technologies open the door to advanced crimes, and I am going to share my viewpoint with you. As advanced technologies are created to make life easier for us, they also pave the way for advanced crimes.

My viewpoint

Criminals are quick to adapt to new technologies, and they explore ways to exploit them for criminal acts. For example, AI-generated deepfakes are advanced technologies that are now used for fraud and impersonation.

Cryptocurrencies are now being used for money laundering and Smart home devices, which are an advanced technology that can be hacked to spy ot even unlock someone's door remotely.

Do you believe we need an antidote before launching any technology? Justify.

Yes, I believe we need an antidote before launching any technology.

My justification:

Just like there are trials before any new medicine is launched to the public, technology should also pass through a rigorous security impact assessment and ethical review before being launched.

For instance, launching AI tools without misuse safeguards or bias can cause job loss, national security issues, or even misinformation, which we are experiencing.

The antidote can be regulations, laws, ethical guidelines, or an awareness campaign about the technologies.

And society's view of cybercrime.

Some tips through which we can alert old people are:

  • Never share our OTP or passwords with anyone, even the bank.

  • We should use a strong easy to easy-to-remember password

  • We should install an antivirus and keep our device updated

  • We should avoid unknown links

  • We should enable 2Factor Authenticator

  • We should teach them to seek help

Society's view of cybercrime

  • A lot of people think it is a problem among the younger generation without knowing everyone is at risk

  • Some people see it as less dangerous than physical crime.

  • Those in authority lack the tools and knowledge to handle cybercrime.

I am inviting @joan-na, @woka-happiness, and @anthony002.

Enabling 2factor authenticator is important in order to keep our crypto secure in a wallet. Older people need to be fully aware because some stranger would send link to your WhatsApp in which they will stated that if you click this link you will win reward or some amount. Once you click it and you put in all your details your money may be loss. Verify such link through appropriate source so that you will not fall the victims of online fraud.
