  1. Share the things that you believe were best in the past but now have been changed.

There are a lot of things that I wish were still done in the past because I prefer them during the past viewing that it was better during that time than the present day. One of the things which were preferable in the past was the respect which children show to their parents, during this new age children tend to become superior over their parents. Not listening to them and disobeying them every step of the way, it would be better to go back to the old days when children accorded their parents maximum respect during fully well they were the ones over them out of the world and have to respect them also because of the commandment called give us to have respect for our parents.

I would say that back in the past, parents were more strict and ensured that their children were of good behavior, making them respect them and their elders. This new generation of children does not respect their parents because technology and the ever-increasing advancement and behavior of society have corrupted them; the parents of this new generation also contribute to making children irresponsible and disrespectful, leading to the bringing of youth that will be of disadvantage to the society.

Another thing which I would say was better in the past is the standard of living. In my country, Nigeria, back in the 90s the country was at least better, at that time a sachet of water was worth 1 naira, but currently, it has risen up to 100 naira for cool water which has been refrigerated and 50 naira for non-refrigerated sachet water. The standard of living back then for me is called the old gold standard of living because imagine the price of fuel being at 50 naira per liter rising to 1,400 naira per liter, this is now causing individuals to hardly survive during this era, I just wish that we could go back to the old days where the standard of living was favorable to both the rich and the poor.

Even house rent, which was once 10,000 naira, is currently 250,000 naira for a single flat. Another thing which I would prefer to be in the old days which is bothering me is the educational system of my country. Right now, students are no more serious because teachers tend to chase money rather than bring knowledge to them; for this, it is because teachers are not highly recognized in society, giving them low and unusable salaries. The teachers do not realize that if they do not train these little kids to become useful and vulnerable people in society, it will all affect them later; it is said that the measure you give is the measure you receive.

I certainly believe in this phrase because once you don't teach someone's child well, someone else will do the same to your kid. It may come in another form where your child may need assistance in a crucial activity, leading to a disordered society of illiterate and irrelevant people in the society. This is why I prefer the old generation, where children acquire quality education; teachers in the era care about the emotional and academic life of students, which is why the old days can never be compared to the new days.

  1. How do you define old is gold?

The proverbial expression "Old is gold," which talks about things from the past, like values, traditions, or experiences and manner of living, is regarded as more reliable, valuable, and cherished than newer things. This phrase tells us that the old days are of great value and importance, letting us know that the new should copy the great qualities that the old days possess The older generations often possess valuable life experiences, wisdom, and knowledge gained over time which is why the new generation should emulate them, the old generation can establish methods and techniques, refined over time, that can be more effective and reliable than new, untested approaches.

  1. Discuss some points why changes are needed for a better future!

It should be noted that without change, there can be no prosperity and development in society, even the world at large. There is a need for change in the way and manner children are being taught in schools; this change should be done so that we will produce youth that can replace the Old generation, creating a legacy that will remain from generation to generation. It is said that change is the only constant thing in life, which is why there must be change for a greater society. Take a look at the agricultural sector, where machinery and gadgets are being used to ensure the smooth and efficient progress of agriculture, sustaining man's life every step of the way.

This occurred because of the change that man took by looking into the agricultural sector and discovering that without agriculture, the survival of man is limited; this amounted to the creation of these implements, which aided agriculture, keeping man alive today and maintaining global food security. I also suggest that there should be a change in the way little children, especially teenagers, make use of modern-day technology; most children view content that is way above their age and think that it is right.

This is where I call on all parents and guidance to ensure that they monitor the way their wards/kids make use of cell phones, laptops 💻 and particularly the internet; social media has brought more harm than good, creating individuals who have become addicted to it. When this change is enforced, all children will realize that social media is not good for their health; parents should ensure that they have limited screen time that they have allocated to their children and also make sure that they stick to it.
