Today we know about Baba Jagannath ji, where is his temple, what are the secrets of his temple, why does he fall ill for 15 days. What is the tradition, we are all eager to know this. As far as I know, Jagannath ji's yatra is taken out with great pomp in the country and abroad. Lakhs of devotees gather and want to pull Baba's chariot. Jagannath Baba's yatra is taken out with great pomp, elephants, horses, camels all participate in Baba's yatra.

Jagannath Baba's temple is located in Puri in the state of Odisha, India. Jagannath Baba's temple is called one of the four Dhams. Here in this temple, Baba Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra and his sister Subhadra ji are worshipped.

Everyday the sound of thak thak used to come from that room, so everyone used to think that the idol is being made inside and the idol maker also never came out.

They never ate or drank anything, so everyone was very curious to see, so after 15 days the sound stopped coming from the room, then the wife of the king who had appointed the idol maker said that the sound of making the idol is not coming. It seems that the idols have been made, then the queen expressed her desire to open the door, then the king refused his queen a lot, saying that no, he has forbidden it for 21 days.

But the king could not do anything in front of the queen's stubbornness and the king got the door opened. As soon as the door opened, the people who were making the idol disappeared. Since then it is said that this is why the idols remained incomplete.

A flag flutters on the top of this temple, but that flag always flutters in the opposite direction of the wind. Many scientists tried to investigate this fact but no one could find out the reason. This flag is changed every day and no crane is used to change the flag, the priest or whoever changes the flag here changes the flag by climbing it. First he salutes the flag, then takes it down. There is a story that if this flag is not changed some day, then the temple will be closed for 18 years, that is why the flag is changed every day.
There is always so much Prasad made in the temple that lakhs of people can eat properly. 500 cooks work in the temple to prepare this food. Prasad is distributed among the devotees only after the offering is made to the Lord.
There is a mysterious Neel Chakra above the Jagannath temple, which is made of stone and it seems as if it is floating in the air. But its specialty is that no matter what is the direction of the wind, it never changes its position.
It is said that there is a sea in Puri, a grand Aarti is performed there every evening and no matter how many waves there are in the sea. But at the time of Aarti, the sea becomes absolutely calm as if it is enjoying the Aarti.
There is a lion gate in the Jagannath temple, which is called the main gate. There are stairs here, where it is said that Yamraj ji is lying under one of the stairs. It is also said that Jagannath Baba wanted to free his devotees from the fear of death, so Yamraj ji fulfilled Baba's wish by lying there.

Baba falls ill for 15 days once a year

There is a story behind this that Madhav Das used to be a great devotee of Baba. He used to serve Baba daily, so once he fell so ill that he was not able to serve him, so he said to God that God I cannot serve you. I am in great pain, then God said that you have served me a lot and your life is left for only 15 days, so your rules should not be broken. Therefore, I take the remaining illness of your 15 days on myself and complete your rule, so in this way Baba took the illness of his devotee on himself, he himself became ill and his devotee was able to complete his rule.

This tradition is still going on that once a year Baba falls ill for 15 days. He is not visible for 15 days. The priests of the temple get his Ayurvedic treatment done by the Vaidya. During this time, he is given fruit juice, herbal decoction etc. as bhog. And when he recovers after 15 days, then the Rath Yatra is taken out.
