We all have our stories to tell when it comes to our days back in school or when we look up to getting into school, well here is my education career so far.

What was your favorite subject in elementary school as a child and why?

Remember how almost everyone was scared of maths in elementary school? Sometimes, even the teachers got scared of this particular subject we call "Quantitative Reasoning", well it was the opposite for me. I so much loved the subject Quantitative Reasoning, because for me, it wasn't just about adding and subtracting. It was like being a detective in a story where I had to find clues to solve the mystery.

For example, if I had to figure out how many apples were left after I ate some, I had to use my brainpower to track the numbers. It was like playing a game of "I Spy" with numbers and I loved figuring out the answers, and it made me feel really smart.

For some of us who have encountered this subject can tell that with quantitative reasoning, it wasn't just about getting the right answer, but rather about the journey to get there, just like the latter part of the subject title "Reasoning".

What was the biggest challenge in your educational career, and how did you overcome it?

My educational journey as a whole was something no one would wish for coming from a separated home, but for the mere fact that I loved to be educated I went on to push beyond boundaries.

Since I stayed with my mum, she did do all her best to see me through elementary school to the best of her abilities. On getting to college, I had the rare opportunity of riding on the back of a scholarship into one of the most prestigious schools we can get in this part of the state in Federal Government College Odi.

However, my biggest test and storm came in my university days. In Uni, it felt like I was constantly playing a game of catch-up, because being educated was my dream, but then, the money involved was my biggest hurdle. Sometimes, it felt like I was trying to climb a mountain with one hand tied behind my back with my biggest challenges being, finding a place to live, putting food on the table, and getting the books and supplies I needed for my classes. At some point, for me, it was like trying to fit all the pieces of a puzzle together, but the pieces were all different shapes and sizes.

I had to take a job at a hotel at some point, which was like having a second job on top of my studies. It felt like I was constantly running on fumes, trying to balance work, school, and my personal life. It was indeed tough for me as everyone considered me to be an adult, but I was determined to make it work so I found ways to stretch my budget, since the hotel also offered me an accommodation. At some point, I even tried my luck with sports betting to help me out with some expenses, even though that was a risky move, because it was like playing a game of chance, but since I was desperate, I gave it a chance and it did help me at some point.

It wasn't easy, but I learned to be resourceful and resilient as I was constantly adapting to new challenges, finding ways to make things work. It was a tough journey, but it taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, resourcefulness, and the importance of setting priorities because in all the challenges, I still graduated with a degree in Chemistry of all courses.

Tell us about the impact of love on your university life

After reading ally challenges in the university above, do you still think I would have a space for love? I will let you be the judge of that.

Well, back in my university days, love felt like a distant dream for me, something that was just out of my reach. While my course mates were busy going on dates and sharing sweet moments, I was struggling with financial issues and the pressure of keeping up with my studies. Which sometimes felt like I was living in a different world where love was a luxury I just couldn’t afford.

Every day was a battle to make ends meet and I was busy with my job, trying to pay for books and basic needs, which left little room for thoughts of romance. So instead of daydreaming about love, I was focused on finding ways to keep my grades up and the stress was overwhelming, which made it hard to connect with anyone on a deeper level.

Hence, while my friends were experiencing the highs and lows of relationships, I often felt invisible. I would see couples laughing and enjoying each other's company, but I was too preoccupied with my challenges to even think about dating. Love felt like a fairy tale, something beautiful but far removed from my reality. In the end, I realized that my focus had to be on my education and financial stability first, leaving love as something I could only dream about.

Which experience from your education has been most useful in your professional life?

Today, when I look back at the challenges I faced in university, particularly the financial and academic pressure, I will just smile as this experience has helped shape not just my lifestyle but also my work ethic and resilience.

The mere fact that I was juggling my hotel job while keeping up with my studies demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple responsibilities, which I believe is a valuable skill in any professional setting, as it shows that I can handle pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.

Then overcoming those challenges, though difficult at the time, I believe have built my resilience and determination, which are essential skills to have in any professional environment.

If you could start studying again, what subject would you choose and why?

If I could go back and start studying again, Optometry is just that one field that has been on my mind to me lately and it is something I am truly passionate about and I am already working towards achieving it.

My recent application to medical school to study Optometry

I've always been fascinated by the human eye and how it works, calling it the humans window to the world. It is such a complex and delicate organ, and it's amazing how something so small can impact our entire perception of the world. Learning about the intricacies of vision, the different types of eye conditions, and the technologies used to correct them would be incredibly exciting.

The mere thought of helping people overcome vision problems and regain their sight is an inspiration to me. For me, it is not just about correcting people's vision, but improving their quality of life. And again, it is a field that is constantly evolving, meaning there is always new research and advancements in technology, which means I would be constantly learning and growing.

I want to take this opportunity to invite @chant, @saintkelvin17 and @ruthjoe.
