So, what is the difference between people going to Space, you may ask, reading this title...

If I have to answer in two (or three) words, that would be:

Astronauts vs. Cosmonauts

No idea if this distinction came from the Iron Curtain of just due to the huge cultural differences but many of you already know, that people going to space from the "Western" world are called "Astronauts" and then the rest, mainly from the former Soviet Union and their satellites, "Cosmonauts"...

Does this make you thinking? It does make me.

So I suppose you know who is the man on this first piece of wall art. That's the first person going to Space, Yuri Gagarin.

Some say the first cosmonaut, others, well, you already guessed. Anyway, let's not dig deeper into the matter of the politically correct words, as I want to cover for a broader subject.

Just a couple of days ago one of our national TV channels broadcasted the movie about Diego Maradona, created by Emir Kusturica.

It isn't a new movie but if you haven't watched it, and you like football, go check it out.

The same artist, Kusturica, had given the "birth" of the town where I took all those photographs.

And there is something extra, something like a hidden ingredient, call it a spice, to each of his movies, an ingredient that I like a lot.

Perhaps other people will call it something else, but I think this is the sense of (self)mockery.

Unfortunately, I think one of the illnesses of our "modern" society is the fact that almost everyone pretends to be something more, tries to present a highly positive and successful image of themself.

At some moments, everything is so fake, that it is almost disgusting, now, of course, nobody will admit that publicly, as they will be automatically crucified and told to shit up.

It isn't like that in the movies by Kusturica. That (self)mockery actually strips those fake layers and gives a more truthful image of the personalities, even if those are roles...

Also, a pinch of darkness. Always. As one of those fairy-tales with not-a-happy-ending. That still makes me laugh as I find some questionable characteristics from my own personality.

At least that is what I percept when I enjoy his movies...

All that reflects, in my humble opinion, very well, in the artistic side of Drvengrad.
