Assalamu Alaikum everyone. Today I'm going to publish my entry for a great educational contest at Hindwhale Community. We can encourage each other to maintain our hand hygiene. So I would like to thank the organizers of this competition for organizing such a wonderful competition. I am expressing my opinion on Clean Hands for a Healthy Community through this contest.

How do you incorporate hand hygiene into your daily routine?

I will first try to learn about hand hygiene in our daily routine of hand hygiene. Because improving the overall health of our body includes keeping our hands clean. Proper hand hygiene will protect me from various types of communicable diseases. Since I am a working woman, I have to spend most of my day outdoors. And during this period of time spent outside, I have to be most conscious about my hand hygiene. Because we know that different pathogens enter our body mainly through our hands, which makes us prone to get infected with different viruses very quickly. So I have incorporated hand hygiene into my daily routine as a routine.

• I must clean my hands before eating every meal and I wash with soap and water for 20 seconds.

• I use alcohol free hand sanitizer even when traveling. If there is a shortage of water.

• I also wash my hands with hand wash after coming from home to the office and again when I return home from the office, I first clean my hands with hand wash.

• In addition, if I see unclean hands, I refrain from touching my nose and mouth. Because the outside organisms will enter my body through the hands.

• I always follow cough and sneeze etiquette. Because coughs and sneezes should never be given into the hand or palm of the hand. Handkerchief should always be used for coughing and sneezing.

Which do you find more effective: hand washing or hand sanitizing?

I think the most effective way to do this is to wash your hands. Alkaline soap is very effective for protecting hands. By doing this, the germs are removed to a large extent. Washing my hands with soap directly from hand wash is a very effective way to get rid of the germ. It is easy way to keep hands clean.

But the reality is that soap and water are far ahead of sanitizers in keeping our hands germ free. In my opinion the best way to reduce any infection and health risks is to wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Also we should use hand sanitizer only in those situations when we dont have any water or soap nearby.

Have you ever educated your community members about the importance of hand hygiene? If yes, how?

Yes, of course. I have always tried to sensitize the members of my community on the importance of cleanliness of hands. I always tell them that keeping hands clean is an important practice in our lives. We basically wash our hands when our hands are dirty and wash our hands after using the toilet. We need to make this a habit. I also made everyone in my community aware that to live a healthy life we must develop the habit of washing our hands properly.

We certainly realized how beneficial the habit of washing our hands is during the Corona pandemic in 2020. Also, not only keeping our hands clean, but also washing our hands properly is very effective for all the people in our community. I think we should initiate various public awareness activities in the community regarding the protection of hand health.

What tips would you share to improve hand hygiene in your community?

In fact, to improve hand hygiene in all the people of the community, we first need awareness. Everyone in our community needs to understand its benefits and disadvantages. If the people of the community understood the importance of hand hygiene well, then they would all follow hand hygiene very easily. So my focus is to provide them with all the information about it and improve hand hygiene.

I have presented some suggestions below to improve hand hygiene:

• First of all, educate the people of the community to control the infection in hand hygiene and train everyone about it.

• Proper hand washing methods can be promoted in the form of various banners, play cards or videos that everyone can easily understand.

• Identify the problems related to hand hygiene of the people of the community and solve the problems by observing them.

• A basic hand hygiene protocol should be created and everyone in the community should be encouraged to follow it.
