The topic for this week is very interesting: “What is more important – Degree or Skill?” This is something many people talk about and today i want to share my opinion in simple words. As a student and someone who wants to do something good in life this topic matters a lot to me.

What is your choice education or skill?

If i have to choose between education (degree) and skill then my choice is skill. In my view skill is more useful in real life. Education is important too but if someone has a degree and no skills they may find it hard to succeed. A degree is a paper but skill is power. Skill means you can actually do something fix something make something or help someone in a real way.

Discuss the advantages of your chosen option.

There are many advantages of skill. I will try to explain some of them one by one.

First skills help you get a job more easily. These days many companies and people want to hire someone who knows how to work. For example if you are good at graphic designing computer work or sewing clothes people will hire you even if you don’t have a big degree. Skills are what make you valuable.

Second skills help you earn money without depending on others. If you have skills like cooking photography mobile repair painting or hair cutting you can earn money from your home. You can also work online as a freelancer. So many people around the world are earning by using their skills on websites like Fiverr and Upwork.

Third skill gives you confidence. When you know how to do something you feel strong inside. You don’t feel afraid of problems. You know that you can solve things with your skill. This gives you happiness and makes you more confident in life.

Fourth skills are useful in everyday life. For example if you know how to cook you can make food for yourself and your family. If you knows first aid you can helping someones in an emergency if you know how to speak English you can travel or talk to people from other countries. These daily life skills make you smarter and more helpful.

Also the world is changing fast. People now learn many skills from short courses YouTube and online classes. They don’t wait for a degree to start working. Even big companies like Google and Microsoft are hiring people with strong skills and not just big degrees. The internet has made skill-learning easy and possible for everyone.

Discuss another choice you didn't choose.

Now i will talk about the other option that i did not choose the degree. A degree means completing your formal education from a college or university. Having a degree is also very important in many cases. For example if you want to become a doctor engineer lawyer or teacher you must have a degree. A degree gives you basic knowledge and helps you understand the theory behind your work. Degrees are helpful for getting government jobs or studying further. In some countries you cannot even apply for a job unless you have a proper degree. So it is true that a degree has its value and place in life. But the problem comes when someone has only a degree and no skill. That person may not be able to do the work properly. I have seen many people who have high degrees but still struggle to find jobs because they don’t have any real-life working experience or skill. On the other hand many people who never went to college are now successful because they learned skills and used them in smart ways.

So i believe the best thing is to have both degree and skill. But if i must choose one i will always choose skill. Because skill is the power to take action. Skill makes you stand on your own feet. Skill brings money confidence and respect.
