So, let's move to the 85th edition of Weekly Power up contest hosted by @jyoti-thelight.

Powering up is the conversion of our liquid steem into power-up state/ influence tokens. Due to the importance of this process, it's always highlighted and encouraged everywhere in Steemit. It's a practice to follow from the beginning of our journey.

Even though the name sounds serious, the process is pretty simple.

• Go to your wallet.

Before Power Up

• Here is a screenshot of my wallet before today's powerup.

• So, you can see a dropdown menu in front of the Steem Balance. There is the power-up option, and click it.

• In the upcoming window, we have to provide the amount we need to power up. Enter that amount, confirm it, and by using the active key, we can authorize it.

• In a few seconds, the process is completed, and you will see the results.

After Power Up - 356.996 Steem, 29,808.454 SP

The importance of Power Up

So, why do we bother so much? Here’s why it matters:

The main and first thing is, it helps to grow our account and build our reputation. After starting our journey here from scratch, we have to stand out from the rest and put our name on the map as a dedicated and committed user. Not one who just drains from this. So, powering up is a simple and good way to show that. And on the other hand, when you see your account is building step by step, it will be an amazing motivation to move forward.

With higher Steem Power, we receive a higher voting value. From that, we can support others, and in return, we receive higher curation rewards. On the other hand, we can delegate our power to other communities and help them grow. It will maintain them, and we can have other benefits come with them.

As I said earlier, this shows our commitment, which is why the Steemit team considers a certain level of Steem Power in giving certain high-level responsibilities like Steem Representative, community curators, etc.

According to the notice from the team,

STEEM POWER increases at an APR of approximately 2.75%, as well.

So, I think you get the idea! Let's make Steemit better!
