Evening had fallen at Colombo railway station. The yellow lights hung overhead, shadows of busy people stretching long. Some were waiting for their train, some were farewell to their loved ones. Through those shadows, twenty-five-year-old Arohi was seeking for a past that was lost—a past that had been taken away ten years ago during a train journey.
She was just fifteen years at the time, traveling with her parents and one younger brother. They were taking a train to the airport, headed back to Bangladesh from Colombo. Her father worked at a private company in Sri Lanka. And her mother was also a Bangladeshi. They had family in Bangladesh. But then something horrible happened.
Arohi got separated when their train stopped at the platform and the huge crowd pushed them forward. Arohi fell onto the station platform and at that exact moment the train began to move. Her parents must have assumed she was on the train.
But Arohi was left behind alone in an unfamiliar city. At first, an aging Sri Lankan woman took her in. Arohi could not speak the language fluently, and she did not remember her home address clearly. She was in a shocked mood.

She learned and speaking the language as she got older. She learned to work and became independent, But in her heart, she had always missed Bangladesh and her family.
Then one day she came across an old newspaper clipping. The headline said: “Bangladeshi family missing from Sri Lanka, searching for their daughter.”
Arohi felt her heart race. So her parents had been searching for her? But where were they? Had they returned to Bangladesh or were they somewhere else?
She made a decision— she was going to Bangladesh.
The following day, she flew to Dhaka. Arriving at Shahjalal International Airport she sensed something odd. It didn’t look like a new place. Instead, it felt familiar, like home.
She spent several days for searching, but learned that her family had left Dhaka. Finally, an old neighbor informed her that her parents were now in Narayanganj.
Her heart began to race. Would she finally see them again?
She reached up in front of the door where the address led her. She hesitated. Then, the door opened. An old lady was waiting, her eyes wide open, full of surprise, tears and full of love.
"Arohi...!"
In that moment, past and present merged. The ache of being lost; the sadness of being all alone — it all disappeared in her parent's warm embrace.

This story is a very touching story, you have done a great job in depicting the scenes and showing the emotions of the characters. Thank God that Arohi was able to meet her estranged family even after living in another country. Keep writing.
Best wishes.
