What are coagulation problems?

In simple words we can coagulation problems are blood problems in which the blood's ability to coagulate disturbed or impaired. These are bleeding or coagulation disorders.When this disturbed the excessive bleeding or coagulation may be This problem may be arises due to abnormalities in platelets, clotting factors or most probably the blood vessels itself.

How coagulation problems are classified?

Following is the classification of coagulation problems;

• Bleeding disorders
• Clotting disorders

Bleeding disorder

This is known as hypcoagulability in which less coagulation takes place and most blood Hemophilia A,B and won willibrand disease are inherited problems.
Aquire disorders include,

• liver disease
• vitamin K deficiency
• anticoagulant medicine
• disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)

Clotting disorders

This condition is known as hyper coagulability means more coagulation than normal.
Inherited disorders including,

• factor v Leiden mutation
• prothrombin gene mutation

Aquired disorders
Following are the acquired disorders,

• Anti phospholipid antibody syndrome
• malignancy or pregnancy
• prolonged immobilty

What do you do in case of bleeding?

Immediate measures

• apply direct pressure to bleeding site
• check or evaluation of bleeding site
• use dressing or hemostatic agents if available

Medical management
Mild bleeding can be controlled by using desmopression . While severe bleeding can be stopped using vitamin k ,frozen plasma or using clotting factors.In xase if platelet disorder platelets transfusion required.

Hospitalization
If severe bleeding and we are failed to stop than visit to hospital and took medical assistance from hospital.

How coagulation problems are controlled?

Management and control of disorder depends upon situation.

BLEEDING DISORDERS
Administration of clotting factors in severe hemophilia.Desmopression in case of hemophilia A.

Avoid the use of nsaids and anticoagulant agents.

Clotting disorders

Medications such as anticoagulants, heparin, warfarin or direct oral anticoagulants.
There should be proper management of risk factors like smoking and obesity.
