Why is staying hydrated more important in the summer than other seasons?

Summer means scorching heat. Due to heat, various physical illnesses occur during this time. Therefore, staying hydrated is very important during this time because due to high temperatures and increased physical activity, the body loses more fluid through sweat. I am mentioning some reasons for its importance.
Increased sweating:
During summer, the body produces a lot of sweat. The body's pain comes out through sweat. Water deficiency can occur in the body. Therefore, it is important to stay hydrated for a healthy body.
Risk of dehydration:
No matter how hot it is, we have to do our daily activities. Starting from sports, we have to do work on the road. Due to this, the body's water deficiency occurs during this time. And the risk of dehydration increases.
Electrolyte imbalance:
Along with water, sweat contains electrolytes like sodium and potassium. If not replenished, this imbalance can lead to fatigue, muscle cramps, and seizures.
Heat-related illnesses:
Dehydration increases the risk of heat-related conditions, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which can be dangerous if not treated promptly.
Prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to fluid depletion and increase your body temperature, making hydration even more important.
In short, it is important to drink more water during the summer to maintain your body's normal functioning and prevent heat-related health problems.

How much water do you try to drink daily in the summer? Do you follow any routine?.

We all want to be healthy. We all want to be healthy. For this, I have to drink plenty of pure water. Especially in summer, I should follow this more. I drink 3.5-4.5 liters of water every day.
Well, I always follow the routine of drinking water. Every morning after waking up, I drink a glass of water to empty my bladder. Then I drink water with breakfast. I usually spend most of the day in the office. I always have a bottle of water on my desk. I don't drink much water at once, I drink one or two sips of water now and then. I have calculated that I have to fill the bottle with water about 3 times throughout the day.
Even when I come home at night, I have to drink several glasses of water.
In total, I drink 3.5-4.5 liters of water, although less.

What are your favorite hydrating foods, drinks or beverages during hot weather?

Eating hydrating food is essential during summer. I also try to consume foods rich in hydration during summer.
Here are some of my favorite hydrating foods and drinks during summer -

🥒 Best Hydrating Foods

Watermelon -Watermelon is more than 90% water and is rich in various vitamins.
Cucumber - A delicious and healthy food that helps meet the water requirement during summer.
Strawberry - A sweet, juicy, and antioxidant-rich slightly sweet fruit.
Spinach - Spinach is rich in water and vitamins. It plays a great role in meeting the water deficit.
Tomato -This food is rich in vitamin C and is delicious and healthy.

🥤 Drinking fluids is essential to escape the summer heat. The drinks I like to drink during this time are-

Coconut -A drink full of natural electrolytes and delicious egg yolks with low sugar. Drinking instantly removes the fatigue of the body.
Blended water -A sorbet made with lemon, mint leaves, and light sugar. It plays a magical role in restoring the lost energy of the body.
Smoothie - Mix fruit with water or coconut water for a hydrating treat. An excellent drink to meet the lack of water along with nutrition.
Chia water - A wonderful drink to quench the thirst of water by soaking chia seeds in water made with lemon or honey. It is a hydrating and fiber-rich drink.
Iced watermelon juice - A delicious sorbet made by mixing watermelon with a little lemon. It will instantly remove the fatigue of the body and bring back freshness to the body.

How dehydration affects our body? And how to overcome that situation?

Dehydration occurs when the body loses more fluid than it takes in, and it affects almost every system in the body. Here are some examples of how dehydration affects our body.

🚨 Symptoms of dehydration include;-

  • Dry mouth, dry throat.
  • Headache and dizziness are observed.
  • Feeling tired or weak.
  • Urine is yellow due to dehydration.
  • Muscle stiffness is often seen.
  • The skin may become dry.
  • Confusion or irritability occurs.
  • Sometimes fainting also occurs.

💧 Here are some ways to overcome dehydration-

  • Drink water slowly to avoid stomach discomfort.
  • If symptoms of dehydration are severe (especially after vomiting, diarrhea, or heavy sweating), drink oral rehydration solution (ORS) or electrolyte drinks.
  • Eat plenty of hydrating foods:
  • Eat plenty of fluids, including watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, and soups.
  • Rest in a cool place.
  • Avoid strenuous activity as much as possible until you are fully hydrated.
