Bad Oral Habits
Bad Oral Habits
Hello friends and subscribers, it's your fellow blogger @rubee2as1. And today we are discussing oral health and the topic is bad oral habits, a common problem we grow up with.
😁Name me the most common bad habits that we acquire since childhood?
Not brushing
The bad habit of not brushing the teeth before going to bed. Children will go to bed without brushing, giving the sugar the opportunity to damage their teeth.
Bottle opener
As children, we made use of our teeth for a lot of things, eating, defence and playing. I used my teeth as a tool. I still see people using their teeth as a bottle opener. They will not wait for the opener even when it is nearby.
thumb sucking
Children also chew on their clothes and become thumb tuckers with their thumb always in their mouth. Some children will suck till the thumb becomes white in colour.
Finger nail trimming:
Converting their teeth into a nail cutter is another bad habit that children develop. They spend their ideal moments using their teeth to trim their fingernails.
chewing hard objects
Using the teeth to break bone and other hard nuts when eating is a bad habit we learn as children and grow with it.
😁 Tell me if you have had any kind of bad oral habit and how you acquired it.
I will plead guilty to using my teeth on some rare occasions as a tool, sometimes to open a stubborn bottle cap, cut a thread or crunch a chicken bone. I don't really know how it started, I may have copied it or just grown up with it.
😁 How can we eradicate this type of bad habit
Breaking free from such bad habits is not easy, it calls for a lot of determination and conscious effort. Sometimes you may have to involve others to signal to you when you engage in a poor habit.
😁 How can we avoid falling into these bad habits?
For children, I think parents should play an important role during their developmental years, guiding them against these habits. Older people will have to understand the risk involved in the habit, and this will motivate the person not to do it. An example is the amount of microbes you could introduce into your system when you cut your nails with your teeth.
