Assalamu Alaikum dear, Greetings to all from my motherland Bangladesh and a warm welcome to my blog for another session on the topic of my daily lifestyle contest. Today I came to take an entry for a wonderful contest organized by @abdullahw2 the moderator of this community. The topic of this contest is "My Relationship With Sleep". Thank you to him for organizing such a wonderful contest.
How many hours of sleep do you usually get each night, and do you think it’s enough?
To stay healthy, sleep should be considered as the most important thing. It is important for every person to be healthy. Because the brain needs to be at rest for a period of time which we consider as sleep. I sleep every night. However, I think that due to work and busyness, I get less sleep in my life. After finishing all my work every day, I go to sleep after 10 pm to 10:30 pm.
So every day I go to sleep at home around 11 pm and wake up at 4 am on the last night. In this case, my regular sleep is five to five and a half hours. If I sleep five hours every day, then I think it is not completely right for me. Because a full-fledged young person should sleep at least six hours at night. So I think that my sleep at night is not enough.
Do you follow any sleep routine (like reading, meditation, avoiding screens)?
When I was 15 to 16, I used to sleep according to a routine. At that time, I used to study from 9 to 10 pm and then go to sleep at the right time. I think it is good to sleep according to a routine because if you sleep at this time every day, it will be good for you.
But let me tell you a joke, when I had time to study, especially when I was reading a book, I would fall asleep. It was very funny for me. But nowadays, it is impossible to avoid screens for various tasks. The routine that I follow during sleep is that I keep the screen on for a certain time and then turn it off so that I can get enough sleep.
What disturbs your sleep the most? (noise, stress, mobile, late-night eating, etc.)
A person's sleep is the most important thing. But to sleep at night, you must create a sleep environment. If you sleep at night and wake up in the middle of the night for some reason, then you will think that your sleep has been disturbed. If it disturbs your sleep, then it will be very uncomfortable for you.
It can be due to any reason, but it is more due to environmental reasons. But I have noticed one thing recently, if I eat a heavy meal at night or eat extra rice, then I do not sleep that night. I feel uncomfortable all night and cannot sleep. That is why I can say that eating too much at night can disturb sleep.
Tell us about the negative impacts of not taking enough sleep and positive impacts of taking enough sleep on our health.
- Negative effects of not getting enough sleep :
Not getting enough sleep has multiple negative effects on physical and mental health. Such as poor concentration and memory, irritability and stress, weakened immune system, weight gain and the possibility of diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, etc. This is why sleep is the most important thing.
- The positive effects of adequate sleep :
Getting enough sleep keeps both the body and mind fresh and functioning healthy. As the function of the brain increases, the immunity of the body is improved, mental health is good, the body weight is under control, skin and appearance improves, etc.
Sleep is an essential part of human daily life. It is not just a means of getting rest but also a process of complete restructuring of the body and brain. Not getting the right amount of sleep has a detrimental effect on both our body and mind. On the other hand, adequate sleep improves the quality of our life.
