"Importance of Hydration In Summer".
Friends welcome to my post, I am happy to have you here.
Why is staying hydrated more important in the summer than in other seasons?
There is more reason why it is more important to stay hydrated in summer than in other seasons. In summer, the temperature is usually high, which causes someone to start sweating, and drinking enough water is the only way to cool ourselves. In the summer season, the increase in fluid loss can quickly lead to dehydration if we aren't taking enough water. It is more risky to us if we are outdoors or exposing ourselves to the sun for extended periods, and taking enough water is the best thing for us to do.
How much water do you try to drink daily in the summer? Do you follow any routine?.
I drink about 2.7 liters of water daily including fluids from food. I like staying hydrated and so I am used to drinking water daily. In the summer season, most especially with exercise or heat, I add an extra 0.5 to 1 liter more water to the 2.7 liters of water that I drink daily because, during such a period, I feel the taste of water the most.
**My routine tips:
- I start my day with a cup of water
- I do carry a water bottle and sip every 20 to 30 minutes
- I do drink before you feel thirsty
- I infuse water with lemon, mint, or cucumber for taste and extra electrolytes.
What are your favorite hydrating foods, drinks, or beverages during hot weather?
My favorite hydrating foods, or drinks during hot weather are:
Hydrating foods | Hydrating drinks |
---|---|
Watermelon | Coconut water |
Orange | Lemon water |
Cucumber | lasso or buttermilk |
Spinach or lettuce | Herbal iced tea |
How does dehydration affect our body? And how to overcome that situation?
Hydration affects my body in the following ways:
- Drying my mouth and skin
- Make my urine yellow
- Causing me to have a headache
- Causing me dizziness or fatigue
How to prevent it
- Drink water steadily and slowly
- Use oral rehydration solutions or electrolyte drinks
- Take a rest in a cool place and avoid further fluid loss.
