Hypertension
Introduction
Hypertension is a common condition which is also known as the high blood pressure, it is a chronic condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is increased.It is measured in millimetres of mercury mmHg and it is expressed as Systolic blood pressure Diastolic blood pressure.it has an average value of about 120 / 80 mmHg.
Types
There are two main kinds of the high blood pressure ( hypertension ).
- Primary hypertension
- Secondary hypertension
The most common type of the hypertension is the primary hypertension and the primary hypertension develops gradually over the years due to not any specific and identified cause.The primary hypertension may be due to unhealthy diet, due to genetic factors and the environmental factors can also cause primary hypertension.
The secondary hypertension is may be due to an underlying disease or condition, which can be disease of the kidney, hormonal disorders and due to the side effects of certain medications. It develops suddenly and it can be more severe than the primary condition.

The hypertension increases due to the increased age.If a person has a family history of the primary or secondary hypertension he or she more likely to develop the hypertension.
Obesity is also a risk factor which can cause the high blood pressure.
Improper diet in which the intake of salt is high, intake of potassium is low and a high diet of the saturated fats is common and it can contribute to the high blood pressure.
Symptoms
The hypertension is often a silent killer condition because it doen not cause the noticeable signs and symptom.
Many of the persons dp not aware of the high blood pressure condition until it causes the other health conditions.The symptoms of headache, difficulty in the breathing, sometimes nosebleeds can occur.
The condition of the hypertension can be diagnosed by measuring the high blood pressure regularly.If the readings are greater than the 120/80 mmHg then the person is hypertensive.
Complications
If we left the hypertension untreated it can cause serious complications of the health.The hypertension can cause the disease of the coronary arteries, failure of the heart.
The high blood pressure can damage the blood vessels which can result in the stroke in the brain.
The kidneys can also be affected by the high blood pressure can cause the kidney failure.
The vision can also be affected due to the high blood pressure because the rise In the blood pressure can cause damage the blood vessels in the eyes.
Management and treatment
A healthy lifestyle which includes taking healthy diet such as vegetables, fruits, low fats. Regular exercise can be helpful to maintain a healthy weight which can ultimately maintain the blood pressure levels.
It is very important to manage the stress because stress causes the hypertension to manage stress we can engage the patient in such activities such as deep breathing exercises and yoga etc.
If the conservative measures are not useful to treat the hypertension condition then the medications can be used
