What is Gonorrhea?

Gonorrhea basically is the very common sexually transmitted infection (STI) that caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
It can be infects the both mens and the women's and often effects the genital tracts but it can also be spreading to the rectum in the throat and in the our eyes. If this lefts untreated gonorrhea can be leads to the serious health complications.

Causes, Symptoms, and Effects of Gonorrhea

• Causes

Gonorrhea is the primarily transmitted through the sexually contacts, including the vaginal anal and the oral sex, with the infected person. It can also be passed from the mother's to her baby during the childbirth, it leadings to the potential complications likes the blindness in the newborns if lefts untreated.

• Symptoms
  Many people with the gonorrhea may not be showing symptoms but when they do appears, they can vary.
  Painful urination pus like discharge from the penis, and swollen or the painful testicles.
  Increased the vaginal discharge, painful urination, pelvic pain and the abnormal bleeding between the periods.
  Gonorrhea can also infects the throat causing a sore throat the rectum causing pain discharge or bleeding or the eyes causing the conjunctivitis.

If this lefts untreated, gonorrhea can cause the severe health problems likes the pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women's, leading to the infertility and can also cause the epididymitis in men, which may results in the infertility. It can also increased the risk of acquiring or transmitting the HIV.

Prevention and Treatment

• Prevention
  The best way to prevents the gonorrhea is by using condoms during the sexual activity. Limiting the numbers of sexual partners and getting the regular STI screenings can also helps to reduces the risk of the contracting gonorrhea.

• Treatment
  Gonorrhea is treatable with the antibiotics typically with the combinations of a injection and the oral medications. It’s important for the both sexual partners to be treated and to prevents the reinfections. However, antibiotics resistance is the growing concern so it is essential to follow the medical advices closely.

Why Is It Important to Spread Awareness about STIs?

Spreading the awareness about the STI's likes the gonorrhea is the vital for the public health. Many STI's can be the asymptomatically so individuals may unknowingly spreading the infections, leading to the complications like infertility or increased vulnerability to the HIV. By educating the peoples about the preventions symptoms and the importance of seekings the timely treatment we can be reduces the spread of STIs, promotes the healthier lifestyles and protects the vulnerable populations.
