Contest Alert ⚠️ Heat Stroke
Anytime I visit the farm, or working at the construction site under the hot sun, my mother will always advice me to put on my t-shirt due to the intense heat from the sun. I never knew she was looking after me, not until I later realised that my actions can lead to bad health condition. I'm sure what's on your mind now is the title/theme of this contest, "Heat Stroke".
I'm excited to participate in this healthy contest organised by @suboohi. To explore on this health talk, I'll start by answering the following questions....
What do you understand by heat stroke. |

To my understanding, heat stroke is a serious health condition that triggers when the body's temperature regulation system is overloaded. Normally, the body temperature shouldn't be above 40°C, but when the heat stroke occurs, it causes the body temperature to rise rapidly and excessively, usually above the 40°C, which can damage our organs, brain, as well as leading to untimely death, if not treated immediately.

Engaging in physical activities under the hot sun can trigger heat stroke.
Heat stroke is not far away from us because this can easily happen when a person is exposed to high temperature, or engaging in physical activities under the hot sun. Remember the advice I talked about earlier, of which my mother gave to me. She was right, it's advisable to limit ourselves from the exposure of the sun and heat.
Describe the symptoms of this condition. |
---|
Headache:
Not all headache occur because of stress or some form of malaria and typhoid. Headache is one of the symptoms that comes with heat stroke, and in terms of heat stroke, the headache will be more severe and painful that other headache. The pains you'll feel will trigger when there's noise, or making some movement around.
Dry skin:
Victim of heat stroke will experience dry skin without sweating, even when engaging in physical activities that could trigger sweat. No sweating from the skin happens due to the heat the person has consumed into the body, drying up the water from the body. Dry skin symptoms can manifest in different ways such as itchiness, inflammation and cracks.
Nausea and vomiting:
This aspect of symptoms will trigger you do many things, such as throwing out and vomiting. You'll always feel like throwing out but vomiting, this happens in terms of nausea. In terms of vomiting, you'll always vomit out the content from your stomach through your mouth, which can lead to another problem, dehydration.
Tell us the First aid that should be given to the patient. |

The first thing to do is to cool the person by using ice packs, cool water, or cold compresses to lower their body temperature.
If the person is putting on heavy clothes, it's best to take them off, so that it'll help the person cool down.
Switch on a fan for the person to help evaporate the heat. In adsence of electric fan, use a hand fan to fan the person, and circulate air through the body.
If the person is unconscious, you give a sip of water to rehydrate and regain consciousness.
After making sure the person is on light clothes, and the temperature is cool. You keep track of the person and monitor, till proper treatment is given.
Thanks for your participation. Best of luck for the contest.
Thank you.

Your post on heat stroke is informative and well-structured.You defined heat stroke as a serious health condition that occurs when the body's temperature regulation system is overloaded, causing body temperature to rise rapidly. You also mentioned that engaging in physical activities under the hot sun can trigger heat stroke. The symptoms you described, such as headache, dry skin, nausea, and vomiting, are all relevant and can help readers identify potential heat stroke cases.Your first-aid advice is also practical, including cooling the person with ice packs or cool water, removing heavy clothing, and using fans to circulate air. Monitoring the person's temperature and hydration is crucial.
