What is obesity?

Obesity is a physical condition in which excess fat accumulates in the body, which can be harmful to health. It is usually diagnosed when the body mass index (BMI) is 30 or more. Obesity is a serious health problem, which can cause various physical and mental complications.

The main causes of obesity include excessive food intake, irregular lifestyle, lack of physical activity, hormonal problems, and genetic factors. When the body consumes excess calories and does not expend them, it accumulates as fat. In addition, stress, unhealthy eating habits, and lack of intense exercise can also cause obesity.

Obesity increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other serious diseases. It can also affect a person's mental health, such as low self-esteem or lack of confidence.

A balanced diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle are essential to prevent obesity. In addition, treatment should also be taken as recommended by a doctor.

How does obesity affect our health?

First, obesity increases the risk of heart disease. Excess fat puts strain on the heart, which increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Obesity can also increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which can cause artery blockages or atherosclerosis.

Second, obesity is a major cause of diabetes. Excess fat increases the body's insulin resistance, which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. This disease is characterized by a failure to control blood glucose levels and can cause long-term complications.

Obesity also puts strain on the bones, joints, and muscles, which can cause bone and joint pain, especially in the knees and back. Obesity can also cause shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, as excess fat increases the pressure on the airways.

Obesity also has an impact on mental health. Obese people are usually underestimated from a social perspective, which can lead to lack of confidence, depression and anxiety.

For this reason, it is very important to prevent obesity and follow a proper diet and regular exercise.

It is better to eat light, nutritious and balanced foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and protein-rich foods. Eat more low-fat and high-fiber foods. Avoid excess sugar, fast food, and processed foods.

  1. Regular exercise:

Regular exercise is very important to reduce obesity. It is possible to shed excess body fat by walking, running, cycling, or swimming for at least 30 minutes a day. Exercise increases metabolism and keeps the body fit. Set aside some time every day for exercise and include it in your routine.

  1. Drinking the right amount of water:

Water is very important for the body. Drinking enough water removes toxins from the body and keeps the metabolism good. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. It maintains the body's hydration and helps control eating habits.

Stress can also be a cause of obesity. When we feel stressed, the tendency to eat increases, especially the desire to eat sugary and fatty foods increases. Therefore, to reduce stress, you should spend time in meditation, yoga or hobbies. This helps bring peace of mind and reduces the tendency to overeat.

  1. Adequate protein intake:

Protein is a very important element that helps reduce the feeling of hunger and helps in building muscle. Foods like vegetables, milk, meat, fish and pulses contain protein. You can increase the amount of protein in your diet, which is helpful in reducing obesity.

  1. Regular food tracking:

It is very important to track your daily food intake. This will make you aware and reduce the tendency to overeat. Keeping a food diary or using a mobile application can be effective.

It is possible to get rid of obesity by following these ways. However, it is a time-consuming process, and patience and discipline are very important in it.
