Hard work or Smart work
We have aways heard this that hard work always pays off, and I too believe in it that when we work hard for something we do get results for it. And at the same time, I see that not every person who works hard gets success. So, it's just not about hard work always that brings results. I believe that along with working hard one also need to be smart to gain success. When my home was being built, there was one man in the construction work, who was very hard working. Even when others would rest he would continue with work. He was always the first one to be at work and whatever work the contractor would give him, he would do it. And he has been doing this hard work for many years, yet, he is still struggling to get good income.
During the work he would tell me, that after this work gets over, if there is any other work, I should consider to give it to him. He is a very honest person also, but not very smart, so even after my house work was completed and I had any home related jobs I would call him for help. He is a type of a person that whatever is told to him, he will do. Whereas there was another man who was in the carpentry work, he was not a full fledge high end carpenter, he was doing only some maintenance and repair work, a very young boy, but now 2 years down the line I see him taking up big carpentry projects. He is a smart boy, he does not wait for instructions to do the job, he takes it up on himself and gives new ideas and suggestions. He is not even that hard working like the other man, but still I see that today he has grown in his work and doing better, whereas the other guy is still stuck in his rut and with the same problems of his life.
Here, there is one extremely hard working person, but not smart and on the other hand there is another person who is not very hard working but very smart, and from the two of them the smart guy is the successful one. So just hard work, without putting much of brains in it is not enough to be successful. Even in my office, sometimes some employees complaint that they are working so hard but still there is no growth for them, and I clearly see the difference between them and those who are not as hard working but they work smartly and move up the career ladder.
Just hard work does not guarantee success, there is a little bit of luck factor also involved and along with working hard one needs to work smart also.

@nainaztengra, this is a truly insightful post! I love how you've illustrated the crucial difference between simply working hard and working smart with those compelling real-life examples from your home construction. It's so true – raw effort alone isn't always the key to unlocking success. That young carpenter's initiative and innovative thinking clearly set him apart.
Your point about the luck factor and how it intertwines with smart work is also spot on. This is something many people grapple with, and your perspective is both relatable and encouraging. Thank you for sharing these valuable observations on the dynamics of hard work, intelligence, and success. I'm sure many readers will find this thought-provoking and relevant to their own experiences. What are some creative ways that you "worked smart" to move forward, despite challenges?
