Hardwood foor repair & restoration with a hand sander.
When this house was vacated, he dragged some damaged furniture across the floor, and made a groove about an eighth of an inch deep. Floor belt sanders remove a lot if wood, and are hard to control. I decided to use a hand held sander instead. First, I sanded out the groove, then I feathered the work in with the rest of the floor. Finially, I put a steel wool pad on a wax polisher, and did a fine polish on the exposed wood surface. Two coats of polyurethane later, and here she is, looking good. Not bad for a century old girl
It's a lot of work, isn't it? We did that a couple years ago and have more to do. I dread doing it again!
Yes, it was 4 days of work, but the results are worth while. I used another day to prep and seal the undamaged floors, and it came out very special.
