At 02:25... alone in the barracks. There's a party outside my window that's still going on. There was, I guess from what I could hear, a karaoke performer outside. I heard him singing the Eurythmics classic, in English of course. So, I can start this day early. I'll probably catch a nap before the alarm sings.

So I have this idea for next year, but I can't make it public just yet. Why mention it, right? It's to remind me. It's my life-blog, I share it. Ha ha. Like a bag of candy.

At about 03:30 I got three or four new roommates... girls, who took about two hours to get settled. In and out of the room. Seems like just when I got to sleep, they'd come back in. I have to be up early... and now it's early. I guess I'll sleep on the bus.

Woke without the alarm. Packed in the dark. Showered and didn't rouse my roommates. That I know of. I still have to put the finishing touches on my checkout. But before that, a nice cuppa tea at Cafe Azul, just outside the wall. The place caught my eye the first day, but never stopped in. The Chinese alimentacion store was open, but closed. "Espero 10 minutes," said the sign on the door. Restroom break I'm thinking. Seems there's only one person working there. I've noticed that with a few Chinese spots in Spain. Maybe during off peak times and siesta hours.

A cuppa tea to start every day...
because it doesn't start until I have tea.

I really don't know. I'm just an observer.

There's a bit of a headache trying to become something. Combination of poor sleep and neck exercises yesterday. DOMS if it is indeed kicking in. I did some neck moves for the first time with resistance and I expect some muscles to wake up and complain.

This is me trying to look like I'm not suffering.

Another first today will be picking up a bus at a station with no reserved ticket. Although, come to think of it, I have done it before. It was just a €2 jump to Compestello in Madrid. This will be a bit more involved, a longer ride and more expensive... but same process. I have found Spanish buses to be punctual.

So, there is a ticket office in the depot. Go my ticket, €20.30. Bought it mostly in Spanish, but the guy spoke English. I think it's helpful that I begin in Spanish, and I'm grateful to get the boost in English.

If I don't sleep on the bus I'll study Spanish phrases.

The people at Wake Up are really nice. Of course it's ironic that so much smoking goes on in the doorway... the smoke is sucked into the "smoke free" building.

There's a bus from Malaga to Tarifa. Good to know. Maybe I can negotiate Spain better and cheaper by buying tickets at the stations.

The bus ride was hard on me. There were a lot of factors. On my end, I didn't eat breakfast. Not a good move. Second, yesterday's neck exercises were playing up on the base of the head and as for the bus, lots of turns around those circles. The bus takes the scenic country route from Tarifa to Cadiz, making local stops. There was an express ride on the way to Seville and I got a nod.

I stretched the ten minute walk to about an hour following Google map's streets that didn't exist. I dropped into a place and ordered tea with milk and got a coffee as well (that I didn't want). The guy gave up the wifi code and I got new and proper directions. I asked directions (growth here kids) only to find I was on the street I was looking for.

Finally found the spot, set up the office and jumped in the pool for a little aqua workout and when I was done... which is now, dinner. My one meal of the day. Another burger.

Food is the cure for the common headache, and most other ailments

I should probably relax afterwards. The gym here is available 24 hrs... soooo... Hope I'm not disappointed. I'm looking forward to pumping some iron.

Whoops... no iron. Cables. It will be okay.

It's supposed to hit 95°f here tomorrow. I can't recall being in that kind of soup in a long time.

Headache may be subsiding.
I love this room. I like coming into it. The hotel is nice to. I should get up early and explore before the place gets hot.

Best room I've had in a while.

No kettle in the room. But I'm not terribly angry about. I have a fridge.

Paid my respects to the bar cafe... had a burger, (ooops mentioned that already). Bod responded. Some late night communication and eased into sleep.

Kind of a vacation, while on vacation.. but I can't wait to get back to teaching...
