THE REWARD OF LIVING FOR GOD 2
10 TELL THE GODLY THAT ALL WILL BE WELL FOR THEM. THEY will ENJOY the RICH REWARD they have EARNED!
11 BUT THE WICKED ARE DOOMED, FOR they will GET exactly WHAT THEY DESERVE."
Isaiah 3:10,11 (NLT)
• In this piece, the rewards of living for God are shared and treated, being the concluding part of the teaching started from the first part.
• Rewards of living godly.
I. The presence of God abides with you.
II. God would defend you and fight your battles.
III. You attract favour in all you do.
IV. You become God's confidant.
V. You become God's showpiece to others, an encouragement to stir them up for serving Him, and teach others about the pattern of His Kingdom.
VI. You would be made a leader through whom others would use their gifts to serve God.
• Godliness with contentment is great gain. To live a godly life would have to be with contentment. If you are not a contented person, It would be difficult for you to walk with God and live by His principles. Someone who wants to live godly would not be in haste and be greedy of material things (1 Timothy 6:9,10).
- This does not mean God would not bless those who live by His principles with material things, He would, but it has to be in His own way and pattern, which are in line and consistent with His Word (Matthew 6:25-34).
- It is greed and covetousness that makes many people, even professed believers, dabble into sin. You cannot not be pursuing material possessions at the expense of your spiritual life without putting your hands in sin:
9 BUT PEOPLE WHO LONG TO BE RICH FALL INTO TEMPTATION AND ARE TRAPPED BY MANY FOOLISH AND HARMFUL DESIRES THAT PLUNGE THEM INTO RUIN AND DESTRUCTION. 10 FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL KINDS OF EVIL. AND SOME PEOPLE, CRAVING MONEY, HAVE WANDERED FROM THE TRUE FAITH AND PIERCED THEMSELVES WITH MANY SORROWS" (1 Timothy 6:9,10 NLT). - Greed or crave for money, the mundane, would take you away or cause you to wander away from the Truth—true faith in God.
• If you are greedy or covetous you surely would be led into sin, and then to destruction.
- When you wanted to get or acquire what is not given you by God, or what God considered that you are not ripened for, or matured to handle, by all means.
You would want to circumvent or bypass God and get it in your own way, since you are desperate about it. Even If it means you had to put your hand in Sin in getting it. - When such a thing is done, you opened the door of your life to the devil for deception and manipulation, which are the key instruments he uses.
- When the devil sees such weaknesses in you; greed and covetousness, he would use things you are craving to lure you away from the truth, that he may strike you and lead you to a destruction (James 1:13-15).
• There is a reward, both for godliness and wickedness, being ungodly. If pride which produces greed and covetousness could be dealt with in your life, you would be saved from destruction—the traps of the devil.
I. It is pride that makes someone disobeys God's Word and instructions, and wants to go in the self way:
a. Such a person would want what God has not given to him or her.
b. What God has warned such a person not to do, he or she would not mind doing it, and damn the consequences (Genesis 3:1-7).
II. Pride makes a believer trusts in the self ability; power and strength (Proverbs 3:5,6).
III. A proud person would not live to please God, because he or she is bound by the desire or longing for whatever they set their minds to get (Romans 8:7,8). And such wanted it by all or whichever means (James 1:14-16).
IV. A proud soul is not contented with whatever God has made available for him or her (1 Timothy 6:6-8).
- Thus, greed, covetousness and lack of contentment are products of pride. SOMEONE who is ruled by the cravings of the flesh, who would not submit to God's Will, ways and plans; would be ready or willing to satisfy his or her flesh—desire or craving by all means:
7 BECAUSE THE CARNAL MIND IS ENMITY AGAINST GOD; FOR IT IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE LAW OF GOD, NOR INDEED CAN BE. 8 SO THEN, THOSE WHO ARE IN THE FLESH CANNOT PLEASE GOD" (Romans 8:7,8 NKJV).
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- You also will not lose your reward at the end of your journey on earth in Jesus' mighty name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, I declare your healing and deliverance now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
- Whatever hold of the enemy, the devil, on your life, such is broken now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Peace!
