BIBLICAL PATTERN OF SUCCESS 2
1 BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO WALKS NOT IN THE COUNSEL OF THE UNGODLY, NOR STANDS IN THE PATH OF SINNERS, NOR SITS IN THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL;
2 BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD, AND IN HIS LAW HE MEDITATES DAY AND NIGHT.
3 HE SHALL BE LIKE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER, THAT BRINGS FORTH ITS FRUIT IN ITS SEASON, WHOSE LEAF ALSO SHALL NOT WITHER; AND WHATEVER HE DOES SHALL PROSPER.
4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 FOR THE LORD KNOWS THE WAY OF THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE WAY OF THE UNGODLY SHALL PERISH."
Psalm 1:1–6 (NKJV)
• The nourishment needed to flourish is found and gotten through the Word of God. When you are rooted in the Word of God, you bear fruit without failing, which symbolizes consistent progress and increase.
- Because the tree is planted by the rivers of water, It would not know dryness. When you are planted in Christ Jesus, rooted in His Word, you would not know dryness. Dryness would be far from you.
- And there would be all round success, prosperity in whatever you do as a believer in Christ Jesus.
- Note: this does not mean there would be no challenges, however, It does mean the person would have what It takes to stand against whatever the challenge; because he or she is rooted in the Word of God.
• Having said that, the ungodly also have their own rewards (Psalm 1:4,5).
- What would be the outcome of the ungodly life?:
7 DO NOT BE DECEIVED, GOD IS NOT MOCKED; FOR WHATEVER A MAN SOWS, THAT HE WILL ALSO REAP. 8 FOR HE WHO SOWS TO HIS FLESH WILL OF THE FLESH REAP CORRUPTION, BUT HE WHO SOWS TO THE SPIRIT WILL OF THE SPIRIT REAP EVERLASTING LIFE" (Galatians 6:7,8 NKJV). - Whichever way you live your life is a seed. It is either you are sowing to the flesh or the spirit. Sowing to the flesh means gratifying or satisfying the flesh—giving whatever the flesh demanded for to it (Romans 6:19,21).
- Flesh would always demand for the pleasure, not to do God's Will (Romans 6:11-13), and If you are satisfying the appetite or want of the flesh, you are sowing to the flesh and you would eventually reap corruption and destruction (Galatians 6:7,8).
- The portion of the ungodly would be:
"THE UNGODLY ARE NOT SO, BUT ARE LIKE THE CHAFF WHICH THE WIND DRIVES AWAY" (Psalm 1:4 NKJV). - Whoever chooses to live contrary to the Word of God, who wants to please or satisfy the flesh, would reap or harvest corruption (Romans 6:21; Galatians 6:7,8).
- The ungodly is a person who refuses to accept and submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. A person who does not want to live by the principles of God found in the Bible.
- The psalmist says, the ungodly are like chaff which are driven away by the wind" (Psalm 1:4). For your life not to be wasted, having no place in the eternity of God's Kingdom, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10; 2 Corinthians 6:1,2).
- When you live in sin, you are sowing to the flesh, and that would lead to corruption—spiritual decay and death:
"DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT YOU BECOME THE SLAVE OF WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO OBEY? YOU CAN BE A SLAVE TO SIN, WHICH LEADS TO DEATH, OR YOU CAN CHOOSE TO OBEY GOD, WHICH LEADS TO RIGHTEOUS LIVING" (Romans:6:16 NLT). - An ungodly is likened to a chaff that would be driven away, and looked for, but would not be found. The ungodly At the end: " . . . WILL BE CONDEMNED AT THE TIME OF JUDGMENT. SINNERS WILL HAVE NO PLACE AMONG THE GODLY" (Psalm 1:5 NLT).
THE way of the ungodly shall perish (Psalm 1:6). However, the way of the righteous is known to God (Psalm 1:6).
• Righteousness that leads to salvation is not earned but a gift, you received it through faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9,10; Ephesians 2:8,9).
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Whatever is contrary to your health, such is rebuked in Jesus' mighty name.
- Sickness, or any form of affliction in your life is condemned in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Peace!
