BENEFITS OF THE KINGDOM
16 THE BEST-EQUIPPED ARMY CANNOT SAVE A KING, NOR IS GREAT STRENGTH ENOUGH TO SAVE A WARRIOR.
17 Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—for all its strength, it cannot save you.
18 BUT THE LORD WATCHES OVER THOSE WHO FEAR HIM, THOSE WHO RELY ON HIS UNFAILING LOVE.
19 HE RESCUES THEM FROM DEATH AND KEEPS THEM ALIVE IN TIMES OF FAMINE."
Psalm 33:16-19 (NLT)
• God watches over those who fear Him, those who morally reverence Him. Those who rely on His unfailing love (Psalm 33:18).
- Reverence is a feeling of profound awe, and respect, and often love. Thus, when we talk about those who fear God, It means those who regard Him with awe, deference, and devotion.
- The honour, respect, and love you had for God determined the height of your trust in Him.
- If the unfailing love for God is in you, the trust would be there. How passionate you are about God builds the trust you have for Him.
- Your fear for Him, which is also the honour, respect, and love you had for Him, made your trust in Him absolutely.
The level or the height of the trust is commensurate with or proportional to the trust you have in Him.
• Your life is secured in God's hand.
- If you rely on the unfailing love of God, He would rescue you from death and keep you alive in famine (Psalm 33:19).
- The protection you need is in your relationship with God. Work on your fellowship with Him. Many go about seeking how to get themselves protected and secured, but what they are looking for could only be found or gotten in God.
- Fellowshipping with God strengthens your faith and buids your trust in Him. When you grow in your relationship and fellowship with God, the devil and forces of darkness would be nothing to you. You would see them as immaterial—you see their nothingness, because of the heart seated conviction you have had.
- If your faith and trust in God can be built, you would have rest and enjoy His protection. Those who are of means, affluent; their major problem is usually on protection. Yet, a good number of them are far from God, the only One Who can help them and shield and protect them.
- Some of such people who are far from God would not want to be closer to Him because their hands are full of blood. Some made their money in an ungodly way. Some are into rituals and occultism, because they want power and the things of this world (1 Timothy 6:9,10).
- They had dined with the devil, sold their hearts in exchange for the wealth he claims to have given them. Whereas, everything about the devil is a deceit, he is a counterfeiter. He actually has nothing to give them that can be as valuable as their souls (Mark 8:36,37).
• The room you give to God that He would occupy, or stay, in your life. He would not go beyond or exceed the limit you have given Him.
- Your passion for God determines what you receive from Him. Your depth in God, In your communion or fellowship with Him determines the benefits you enjoy from Him.
- You have to be intentional, purposive, in being more deeper in your walk with God; through the study of His Word, prayers, fastings, witnessing, and other spiritual exercises.
- What are the benefits of being absolute in your walk with God, according to the text of this teaching?
a. Protection is one of the benefits of serving God wholeheartedly. Having reverence for Him and relying on His unfailing love (Psalm 33:18). He watches over those who's hearts are on Him.
b. God rescues from death those who have an absolute trust in Him (Psalm 33:19).
c. He also keeps them alive in the times of famine. - Things mentioned above are some of the benefits of having a good relationship and fellowship with God. No matter how you see it or think about it, God wants you to enjoy all the benefits of His Kingdom on earth.
There is life in being strong in God, thus, choose life and not death; protection and being kept alive in famine, and not death and famishment.
• Obedience to the Word of God gives life. All you need could be gotten through your obedience to the Word of God—living and walking in the light of it.
- No how presumably the enemy, the devil, is considered to be strong, the God we serve is stronger, If you walk in the light of His Word.
- Walking in the light of His Word builds and enhances your fellowship or communion with God. Which ultimately builds your trust in Him.
- The devil is a created being, and God has not created what He cannot control or tame. The devil is under the control of God, If you build your fellowship with God.
- Whoever count on his or her physical strength would fail or lose. No human can handle the devil without the power of God: "DON'T COUNT ON YOUR WARHORSE TO GIVE YOU VICTORY—FOR ALL ITS STRENGTH, IT CANNOT SAVE YOU" (Psalm 33:17 NLT).
- Any power you sought and gotten outside God is from the devil and it will give you sorrow.
- The counsel is, fear God, rely on His unfailing love, thus, you have an access to the benefits of those who wholeheartedly surrendered to Him.
- If you had not establish a relationship with God, surrendering wholeheartedly might not be a reality. You have to Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, let Him in into your heart and abide with you (Romans 10:9,10; Revelation 3:20).
