ANOINTED FOR A PURPOSE 1
1 THE SPIRIT OF THE SOVEREIGN LORD IS UPON ME, FOR THE LORD HAS ANOINTED ME TO BRING GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
2 HE HAS SENT ME TO TELL THOSE WHO MOURN THAT THE TIME OF THE LORD'S FAVOUR HAS COME, AND WITH IT, THE DAY OF GOD'S ANGER AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES."
Isaiah 61:1,2 (NLT)
• The Holy Spirit is given to the believers in Christ Jesus, to help in fulfilling the purposes of God for their lives.
- When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you become a witness of Jesus: "BUT YOU SHALL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS COME UPON YOU; AND YOU SHALL BE WITNESSES TO ME IN JERUSALEM, AND IN ALL JUDEA AND SAMARIA, AND TO THE END OF THE EARTH" (Acts 1:8 NKJV).
- Every believer is given the responsibility of witnessing, reconciling others to God:
18 NOW ALL THINGS ARE OF GOD, WHO HAS RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, AND HAS GIVEN US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION, 19 THAT IS, THAT GOD WAS IN CHRIST RECONCILING THE WORLD TO HIMSELF, NOT IMPUTING THEIR TRESPASSES TO THEM, AND HAS COMMITTED TO US THE WORD OF RECONCILIATION" (2 Corinthians 5:18,19 NKJV).
• The Holy Spirit is a personality in the order of Godhead. And He would help a believer to discover the purpose and plan of God for his or her life.
- He is given to the believers in Christ Jesus to help them in fulfilling whatever the assignment that is given to them. Thus, He helps in fulfilling God's plan for your life as an individual believer.
- Some other things that the Holy Spirit does in the lives of those who have Him on the inside of them:
a. He gives Joy to those who are mourning (Isaiah 61:3).
b. He gives Joy and beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
c. He gives a garment of praise Instead of despair (Isaiah 61:3).
d. He comforts the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1).
e. He causes the release of the captives, and the freedom of the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1).
f. Executes vengeance on those who are God's enemies (Isaiah 61:2).
• The Anointing on whoever is anointed makes him or her relevant. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer makes the person a blessing to the people who come on his or her way (1 Corinthians 12:7).
- For the presence of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you to be meaningful, you had to build a communion or fellowship with Him—He desires companionship. Also, He wants to help you in every area of your life (John 14:16,17,26; Romans 8:26,27).
- Whilst Jesus was departing the planet earth, He said He would not leave us orphans and that He would give us another Comforter or Helper like Him (John 14:16,18).
- Jesus Christ said it is expedient or advantageous that He should leave that the Comforter or Helper might come (John 16:7).
- God does not want you to live your Christian life without His help (John 14:16-18,26). So your strong relationship with the Holy Spirit will give you insights into God's plans and programmes for your life (John 16:13).
- With some of the attributes of the Holy Spirit or His ministries mentioned in the book of Isaiah that we have as the text of this teaching (Isaiah 61:1-3); you are packaged to succeed If you allowed Him to freely operate in your life.
• A notable or distinctive feature of the Holy Spirit on the inside of a believer is the ability to discover purpose (Romans 8:14).
- Many live their lives without even discover the purpose of their being on earth. Your companionship with the Holy Spirit opens your eyes of understanding to know things about your life which ordinarily would not have been known without Him.
- The mind of God is made known to you through the Holy Spirit: "HOWEVER, WHEN HE, THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH, HAS COME, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH; FOR HE WILL NOT SPEAK ON HIS OWN AUTHORITY, BUT WHATEVER HE HEARS HE WILL SPEAK; AND HE WILL TELL YOU THINGS TO COME" (John 16:13 NKJV).
READ: John 14:26 - The Holy Spirit is on the inside of you to discover purpose and fulfil it. If I may ask, What has God sent you here, the planet earth, to do? What is your vision? What does God want you to be?
- Note: Whatever does not fit into God's plan or purpose for your life should not get your attention.
• It is my prayer that your mind be illuminated, eyes of understanding be opened, and discovered God's plan for your life and fulfil purpose in Jesus' name.
- If you had any ailment, sickness, or disease, in your body, I declare your healing now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You are healed and made whole in Jesus' name.
Peace!
