THE CRAZIEST TURTLE WE CAUGHT ALL DAY!
It's another big softshell turtle for us!
These turtles are some amazing creatures. They can outswim fish, and can even extract oxygen from the water by pumping it over their throat linings. It's crazy to think about a turtle doing things like that, but it's true. By hand, these are some of the hardest turtles to catch, since they are so fast, both on land and in the water. On a fishing pole, they can be easier to catch, but they are still beasts to reel in. This one put up an impressive fight. We safely unhooked it and then released it back into the wild.
