Share2Steem v1 is on the way - new layout and users' opinion needed

in #fundition-0bslsk1cg7 years ago (edited)

Currently in beta (v0.2), we are working hard (I'd rather say @algo.coder is working hard) to bring v1.0 to life. And the first thing we have to show you is a brand new layout which will make things easier for everyone. We also have a few questions for potential delegators.

The new layout

Home screen

The entry point to the website will simply show a wizard button for newcomers. Existing users (with a Steem Account already linked with the Share2Steem application) will be able to skip this and be taken to their dashboard directly.

Total newcomer or already Steemian ?

The next screen will ask the user if he has a Steemit account. If yes, he will be able to log in via SteemConnect (as it is already the case). If not, he will be offered to create a new account. First via presenting him a link to the Steemit Sign Up page and then, when our Steem Power allows it, Share2Steem will handle the account creation.

Choice of the social media accounts to link

After the SteemConnect login, the user will have the choice of the social media accounts to link. Remember, if you currently have the choice between Instagram, Youtube and Twitter, other networks will be added in the future !

All the way to account verification

After that, the newcomer will be able to verify his account.s (according to his choices at the previous step) directly during this "guide" or "tutorial". The goal of this new layout is to facilitate the sign up process and accompany step-by-step the user through the process of linking an account (or multiple accounts if the user is active on several social media outlets) to the Share2Steem application.

The traditional site will also be reorganized to implement this new User Experience features into it and make the whole journey on the website coherent.

We need your input

At the same time, we are rethinking some of the features of the Share2Steem application. And to make sure we're going in the direction you would like us to go, let us ask your opinion about a particular subject : delegations.

To make the application profitable for current users, to attract new people and have a good retention rate, we will need delegators to support us.

So our question is : what would you (potential delegators) like in exchange of a Share2Steem delegation ?

  1. A place of choice in the Share2Steem curation trail ? It might not be profitable in the short term, but if we manage to get a lot of users participating in the trail (and the new layout will help us to achieve that), it could become a really interesting benefit.
  2. A traditional Return On Investment system ? The delegators will get a share of the revenues generated by the application.
  3. Some mean of promotion (for your project.s) on the website ? It could be implemented in the "guide" for newcomers of somewhere else on the site.
  4. Something else ?

Of course it could be an hybrid of all these propositions, or an individual choice by the delegator.

Please let us know what you think about what our delegators' policy should be.

See you in the next episode !

This v1.0 is on a good way and should be available very quickly (approximatively a week from now). In the meantime, you can use the current version (v0.2) which is fully functional and can already help you monetize your social media accounts. The transition between the current version and the version 1 won't impact in any way current users of the application.

See you soon at https://share2steem.com !

Sort:

This project looks really interesting as I too have wondered how to get a Steem link to other platform like other have (i.e. Twitter, Linkedin, etc.). This could generate traffic and interest. Also excited to see you guys opening the door for new account creation as this is a now a huge potential after the Hard Fork! Enabling particular communities to onboard users could be a great step to retaining then here as well!

Regarding delegation, I think there are preferences that fit different accounts. Many like to get something in return but if the project has potential, it could be as easy getting support on the premise of a goal like account creations. I personally fall in the middle as I try to target having only a percentage of my Steem Power delegated as I enjoy curating manually every day. Looking forward to seeing the progress!

this is incredible! thanks for continuing to innovate!

Really cool concept guys! This is just the sort of thing I was hoping to find to make managing multiple social media accounts (while still finding time to post to Steemit). I saw in one of your other posts that you were looking for delegations? I'd be happy to throw in 50 sp to support.

I've got a few thoughts / feedback but I'll save that for a future post. In the mean time I had a question about using Twitter: I managed to link and verify my twitter account and make a test post, but the image from my tweet didn't seem to make it into the Steemit post (instead it just displays a "..." where the image should be). Is this is glitch or are images not supported for Twitter posts? (I noticed the instagram images seem to work fine).

Hi, thanks a lot for your support.

For Twitter, it's "normal" even if it's not good. Depending on the source of the tweet (if you're posting from the Twitter web version, from the twitter app, from another site that allows to tweet from their end), I'm receiving different levels of data integrity (completeness).

For your particular tweet, I'm receiving no data about the image from Twitter. I'm a bit perplex as some similar tweets are well displayed once on Steemit (with the photo or video). It's mostly a question of number of characters (if you had put your photo more at the beginning of the tweet, it would have displayed, but we would have lost the end the tweet).

I'm working on a solution that will allow me to display all tweets correctly but that will need some time.

Ah ok yeah I figured it was something specific to Twitter, I don't know much about the code side of things but I'm sure it's complicated, thanks for looking into it!

Hi @gmedley, and thanks for giving it a try.

You will find our program for delegators here : https://steemit.com/fundition-0bslsk1cg/@share2steem/share2steem-sponsorship-program-delegators-rewards

For twitter, this is an unexpected behaviour, we are working on this issue.

Looking forwards for your post ! ;-)

Ah yeah that's the post I saw but I didn't see any quick delegation links (I'm sure there are other ways to delegate too but I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this stuff)

Oh, you're right, we should have put quick delegation links, I'll fix this later.
Here it is for now (this is a link for 50 SP) :

Done! Thanks, and best of luck for you guys as you develop this further, excited to see it bring more people in.

Many thanks for your support !
