Five Seconds Rule!
The title is way too vague for a post. But, let us just narrow it down here. We are going to talk about taking a decision!
In life, we get many opportunities and chances. We may do not realize all of them. But, those which we realize puts us on the verge of deciding where to go next. It is like a cross roads. Each road will take us to a different location. Should we go right or left?
With all of the information that we have gathered through our experience and reading, we attempt to make a decision. Sometimes, the decision that we take is easy to us. We know exactly what we should do next. Or better said, what is best for us. However, sometimes we have two good choice or bad choice. It could even be similar choices, not good or bad ones. What do we do in that case?
A lot of the times, some people start with putting positives and negatives with each choice. With the decision that they should go with. While that is a good practice. But, it is also possible that it leaves one uncertain. Weighing the positives against the negatives might not be always the best thing to do. At times, we have many positives against one negative, and that one negative is holding us back. However, I would still emphasize that it is good to have it in mind.
With that being said, we can now talk about "Five Seconds".
What do we mean by "Five Seconds"?
There is something called, The Five Seconds Rule. Mel Robbins have talked about this also. You can find her videos on the internet about it. Or, just read it if that is what you prefer.
The Five Seconds Rule is basically an idea to help us make a decision faster. Instead of just thinking something over and over again and stay where we at without taking a decision. This rule is stating that those who suffer from thinking something over and over again, should start practicing taking a decision within the first five seconds. This is no guarantee to making the best decision ever! But, it ensures that one takes a decision.
After that, one could work on making that decision right!
To conclude, I will leave you with a question:
Do you agree with the idea of The Five Seconds Rule?
First of all, you really wrote an awesome text! Did you think it over before you started? If it comes to the five-second rule, I rarely need to think something over, and if it's mainly because I have to calculate if something is possible.
Do I agree with making decisions within the first few seconds, more likely the first 2 before awareness starts and next overthinking? Yes, because within the first 2 seconds, instinct speaks, and if it comes to me, instinct always has been right.
Awww.. Thank you..! That is really encouraging.
No, I read the prompts and I had something ready in mind, I was thinking it through while I was writing to make it cohesive.
I believe that is true. It is believed that our mind sees the full image of truth and then, translate it into words that we understand. Sometimes, it fails to understand the full feeling into words. That is when we do not feel right about something. But, we don't know why is that!
Let your instinct speak and you will climb the highest mountain with ease.
