A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words || Still I Point

Hello beautiful community ,I'm deeply grateful for this opportunity to express myself through words once again. A big thank you to the organizers of this contest @freewritehouse and to everyone in this amazing space who continues to inspire creativity, courage, and connection through storytelling and poetry.

This poem was inspired by a simple but powerful image: a bent pedestrian sign still standing firm. It made me reflect on resilience, on being overlooked, and on how even when life twists us out of shape, we can still stand with purpose.

With love and ink from the heart,
I present: "Still I Point"

I may be bent, but I still show the way,
Though winds may howl and skies turn gray.
I’ve watched you cross, I’ve seen you grow,
Guiding each step where you must go.

No longer new, no longer bright,
Yet in my twist, I hold my fight.
Forgotten maybe, ignored by some,
But I still stand, I won't succumb.

A silent guard on worn-out street,
Where rushing hearts and footsteps meet.
So glance at me with eyes that see
I'm bent, not broken and still I be.

Though time may rust and edges fray,
I live to serve, come what may.
For purpose held in quiet grace
Outlives the shine, outlasts the place.

I’ll stand right here, through sun and rain,
Guarding your children again and again.
Though bent and mocked, called old and worn,
I shield each step since you were born.
