Marcella (TV Series) : There's a Hidden Wound in Every One of Us
Things in life tend to push to the edge between self-control and losing control of consciousness and sanity. Sometimes it just takes a little push and one is in a different reality. Every one of us is on the brink.
People often fail to realise how lucky they are because they just take every moment of their lives for granted, and are even more likely to focus on the things that are sad, feeling sorry for themselves, blaming their circumstances. But things are sometimes even worse than they seem in the eyes of others, who usually tend to make judgements based on bits and pieces of information that come in front of their noses, who have no idea how hard someone has fought their war.
But life does hold too many mysteries. And there are times when some mysteries are better kept a mystery, because when they are revealed, they can be very painful. Among the most painful, perhaps, is when you realise how manipulative the person who has been so close to you has been. Betrayal isn't the worst thing when those who betrayed you put you as the guilty one who forced them to commit the betrayal.
Yes! Life is a fragile thing, a burden that every one of us who has been born must bear.

Marcella is a television series from the United Kingdom that currently has 3 seasons with 8 episodes each. It tells the story of a woman -Macella- who is a brilliant police detective with severe past traumas that seem to push her towards madness, but she continues to struggle to control her own situation and tries as hard as she can to hide this condition from others.
The sudden death of her baby many years ago, the dislike of her two primary school-aged children and a broken marriage have left Marcella immersed in her work. It is only this dedication to her work that seems to keep her in control of herself: realising and appreciating her existence.

Anna Friel plays Detective Sergeant Marcella Backland with a quality of acting that I think really fulfils the expectations for a ‘grim’ character. Marcella is a woman who is stubborn, full of self-reproach, unyielding, lonely in a crowd, and continues to fight against the strong urge to end her own life. A complex person, each of us will pity her condition and marvel at her hardness of heart. Marcella's face in the poster for season 2 that accompanies this article is representative enough for us to understand this character in a glimpse: Fragile, yet a Fighter.
The audience may find some things to question, for example, things in the cases that appear not fully handled, there are still mysteries that the police (Marcella and her friends) did not manage to solve. But I think that's closer to reality. The ‘perfect’ investigations that usually appear in detective films, I think, only appear in films. Or maybe they're saving it for the next season (if they have plans for that)?

In the UK, Marcella airs on the ITV channel. Outside the UK, the broadcast rights are owned by Netflix. The first episode aired on 4 April 2016, and the last episode to date aired on 16 March 2021. They finished season 3 brilliantly but left something hanging that could be a gateway to season 4, if they're going to do that. I personally hope there will be a season 4 where they might be able to wrap things up and give the audience a ‘relieved’ closure. But it seems like they've hit the pause button for so long that it's impossible to expect a continuation of the story.

If you like drama, psychological thriller, a bit of action, crime, mystery, intrigue, you will find this series to be a work of cinema worth appreciating. Happy watching.

It describes a series of the type that I like, people who fight against their internal and external demons, while trying to rebuild or continue with their lives.
You've also described the story. It makes you want to watch the series. I think you could write countless articles about the seventh art. Although it takes a while to write, and the way you tell it is interesting enough to make people want to watch the series. Art is complicated.
She sounds to me like the average person. I assume good enough to be a detective? I like English detectives. I noticed it's broadcasted on Dutch television and it's possible to watch it here: https://hdtodayz.to/tv/watch-marcella-hd-38571
