Wordsmiths Fiction Week 1: The Disappeared Leader
Greetings Friends, Read My Part Of The Story
To the crew it was as if the world was ending, the compass on the ship stopped working, all of this starting simultaneously as the emerge the island, from the atlas on the scroll it shows that this was never the island they were to onboard but fate had it this way, instead of going further with a malfunction equipment and getting our lives wasted we rather stop here, said the captain, he was the head of the search team and he had more experience when it comes to adventure and research even though the virus had inflicted 100% of the town and their lifespan was shorten to 7 days, they had only 6 days to get the Sigamog Tree Latex, a very rare tree in the whole of Africa, and the Journey didn't just need scientist but strong men who are able to endure the tempest of the sea and the fierce creatures in the forest of OZ.
These men were the best of men, and in critical issues like this, they are always needed. The journey was a long one, but no one knew what caused the sudden seizure of the ship very close to the island. Some crew members praised God for not letting them get caught in the stock where there was no island for anchoring. It was something miraculous and questionable because these machines were all tested before embarking on this journey. The crew made some fireworks in order not to sleep off and scare some creatures, but as nature's call cannot be bypassed, they all slept off.
Zazo, a much stronger team member, had a nightmare of how the virus spread far and wide and woke up immediately. He decided to check up on his teammate and discovered the captain was missing; it was still dark, so he had waited till morning. In the morning everyone kept talking of the captain's departure. After a long search, it was discovered that a rescue boat was missing, but how did it suddenly start working? Did he repair it into the night since he was an engineer, and is he currently testing it? But he shouldn't have left the coast if it was a test run. Twelve hours of long waiting passed, and he didn't return; they had to change their plan, and plan B was initiated.
The second in command requested that the atlas be brought and other members start fixing the boats. This was meant to be a day without rest, preparing the tools and trying to find fault in the equipment. It was discovered that the atlas was missing; other vital instruments were missing now, and it's quite suspicious. There is no doubt that the captain had gone with them. At this time the second in command remembered the words of the scientist.
In less than 24 hrs, the fault on the ship was dissolved. Many questions arose about how they would find their route, but the second in command, OTTO, went into the inner apartment of the ship, put his hand through an aperture and brought out his grandfather's old map, the original of the duplicates. He remarked the island where the Sigamog tree will be found is very different from the mark on the lost map. He told everyone to trust him in his command; the scientist had told him that the only thing they would encounter was just a jungle puzzle in the forest of Oz and the solution was teamwork.
In order to keep track of the route which they took, Zazo was left behind to make fireworks on the island where they journeyed; two other teammates were asked to stay by the engine region to ensure proper functioning, and here the captain's cloth and some tools like chisels and screwdrivers were found. Captain Otto was informed, and he took them into account.
As soon as they approached the forest of Oz, fear gripped all of them, as there were no weapons; they would all die in the hands of wild beasts. Captain Otto wasn't afraid, and no one knows where he derived this fearlessness and confidence from. The ladies began to complain, and the captain gave them a key to room 01 of the ship to open it and asked them to open and tell him what they saw. As they opened, they were speechless, with assorted weapons and 8 speedboats meant for those in the forest of Oz. It is still unclear why he didn't show them this when they almost died by shipwreck.
They took the Sigamog tree leaf and the seed was plucked; the sand of the soil was taken to plant it. They had 2 days left; they returned back without ZAZO. This was part of his punishment as a co-initiator of the cloned virus to inflict the kingdom, put the king in trauma and take over the kingdom by force.
The captain, after living without Zazo, whom he promised to appoint as his next in command after dethroning the sitting king, reached the other island, thinking it was the Forest of Oz, and took his assumed Sigamog tree leaf as his remedy. All of them were inflicted with this virus to hasten their quest and return. He took some portion to trade it for the kingdom, meaning anyone who voted him into power would be given a portion to drink as a cure.
He burnt down the forest and headed away; he saw the fireworks and smoke in the air. He knew that was the island they resorted to when he tampered with the boat's engine. He was well prepared, and he decided to stop by just to find only one team. Zazo, as a bird of the same feather, told him why he left without informing him, and he rejoiced that they found the tree, the remedy to the virus.
The other team returned safely to the village 21 hours later than planned. The scientist had found the cure and injected it into all the villagers; the eight returning team were injected as well. The Sigamog tree was never a cure for the virus. This plan was initiated by the scientist and was relayed to his son, the second in command, when the captain and Zazo took him hostage to create a virus or be killed.
Zazo and the captain partied for hours on the island before they realised they had been exiled to death by trick after they started spitting blood; the island was named after Zazo (Zazo Island). The carcass of the Zazo and the captain were never found in the kingdom, and this was documented in the kingdom's account as an exile to death.
It was after his death that many began to speak of his hidden atrocities and their effect on the kingdom.
