Shopping Experience in Islampur: Sofa, Covers, and Curtains
Hello dear friends,
I hope you all are doing well and spending a beautiful life with your loved ones. I wish you all happiness and peace.
Sometimes in life, we go through certain experiences that remain in our memory for a long time. A few days ago, I went to Dhaka’s Islampur with my mother-in-law. The main purpose of the trip was to buy sofa foam, foam covers, and curtains for their house in the village.
Islampur is one of the largest wholesale markets in Bangladesh, where you can find everything from foam, furniture covers, bed sheets, and curtains to various home décor items. The prices are comparatively lower than many other places, but going there requires time, patience, and a bit of planning.
That day, we roamed through several shops, carefully checking designs, fabric quality, and colors until we found what we liked. The shopkeepers were quite cooperative, though the crowd and noise did tire us out. Finally, we placed our order for sofa foam, covers, and some beautiful curtains, and returned home. The shopkeeper promised that they would deliver everything on time.
However, things didn’t go exactly as planned. On the scheduled delivery day, I couldn’t manage to go. So, two days later, this morning, I had to go back to Islampur to collect the products. Traveling in Dhaka is almost always synonymous with traffic jams. On the way there, I didn’t face too much traffic, but while returning, I got stuck in terrible congestion, which was really frustrating. Luckily, the rickshaw puller was clever; instead of taking the main road, he went through narrow lanes and shortcuts to reach Gulistan. From there, I took a bus of Utsob Paribahan and finally reached home.
When I got home and received the products, I felt that the struggle was worth it. Everything came just the way I had ordered—sofa covers, curtains—all exactly as expected. However, one thing caught my eye: the foam brand. I had ordered Karmo foam, but the delivery was of Comfort brand. At first, I was slightly disappointed, because I didn’t get exactly what I had chosen. But upon checking the foam, I felt the quality was not bad at all.
Now the question is—what is the actual difference between Karmo and Comfort foams? Honestly, I had never compared the two brands before. Both are quite popular in the market. Karmo is usually known for being a little more expensive and durable, while Comfort is said to provide good quality foam at a lower price. Since it’s hard to judge without using it, I thought I would use it for a while and then find out the real difference. Perhaps in practical use, there won’t be much difference at all.
Today’s shopping experience reminded me once again that shopping in big markets in Dhaka is not easy. The traffic jams, the crowd, and bargaining with shopkeepers—all of it makes the process time-consuming. But at the same time, bringing home the right products and buying something new for the family brings a different kind of happiness.
In the afternoon, my mother-in-law will take all these items to Brahmanbaria. Honestly, buying something for the family always brings a unique satisfaction. She was also very happy, because she herself chose the designs directly from the market.
All in all, my experience is that Islampur is still one of the most popular shopping hubs for Dhaka residents. Those who want good quality sofa covers, curtains, or foam should definitely consider visiting. But one must be patient, because it’s almost impossible to finish shopping without facing heavy crowds and traffic jams. Another important lesson—always double-check the brand you are ordering and make sure you are receiving exactly that.
In conclusion, today’s shopping and delivery journey was both tiring and enlightening for me. I hope the sofa and foam last long and add a new touch of beauty to their home décor.
Thanks all
