The holidays were a welcome break from everyday life; our Great Easter Eggery has long passed the halfway point - we are already organising the penultimate round today. The results will of course be available here in the usual place. Usually on the day of the payout of the respective task, but I may have to summarise one or two solutions due to time constraints...

But that's just for information (I don't want to get ahead of myself ;-))

Today I'm going to talk about a classic in a new guise... There are books that you read when you're young, for example. And you are so enraptured and impressed that the plot and characters stay with you forever. Truly immortal literature...

I'm sure that all of us have read ‘Robinson Crusoe’ by Daniel Defoe or at least know the story. Am I right about that?

The novel was published in 1719 and is adventurous and exciting and profound, with social and sociological components - a masterpiece. How would the story be written today, in an age in which we can no longer imagine life without smartphones and GPS and dinghies without outboard motors? What challenges would the modern Robinson face, how would things turn out...?

Die Feiertage waren eine willkommene Pause im Alltag; unsere Große Oster-Eierei hat die Halbzeit lange hinter sich – wir veranstalten heute bereits die vorletzte Runde. Die Auswertungen werden natürlich hier, an der gewohnten Stelle zu finden sein. Meist am Tag des PayOuts der jeweiligen Aufgabenstellung, aber ggf. werde ich eine oder zwei Auflösungen aus Zeitgründen zusammenfassen müssen…

Aber das nur zur Information (ich will ja nicht vorgreifen ;-))

Heute soll es um einen Klassiker im neuen Gewand gehen… Es gibt Bücher, die liest man, z.B. in der Jugend. Und man ist so hingerissen und beeindruckt, daß Handlung und Figuren für immer erinnerlich bleiben. Wahrhaft unsterbliche Literatur…

Ich bin sicher, daß alle von uns „Robinson Crusoe“ von Daniel Defoe gelesen haben oder zumindest die Story kennen. Liege ich richtig damit?

Der Roman erschien 1719. Es ist abenteuerlich und spannend und tiefgründig, beinhaltet soziale und soziologische Komponenten – ein Meisterwerk. Wie würde die Geschichte heutzutage geschrieben, in einem Zeitalter, in dem man sich ein Leben ohne Smartphone und GPS und Beiboote ohne Außenbordmotor gar nicht mehr vorstellen kann? Vor welchen Herausforderungen stünde der moderne Robinson, wie ginge die Sache aus…?
