Onion, garlic and a lemon | Still Life

Well, here I am, keeping my promise. It's been a long time since I've painted with colored pencils. Thanks to @tezzmax, I dared to try a still life I put together to photograph it. Here are the results, compare them, dear readers.

I'd been avoiding doing it. I made the decision and imagined how I wanted it to turn out. I also decided to work in a small format; I thought it would be easier with the details, but it wasn't.
The crayons (which are school supplies) didn't help much; some of them scratched, and you can see those scratches on the walls rather than coloring them in. But I used them for the background.

Then, there was the approach to the sketch, there were no problems there, it was when coloring that I could not achieve the shadows and highlights that I saw, (the black color did not paint) I turned to gray and darker shades of some colors, (yellows and purples). Below are some details.

My Interpretation & Process
The experience was very fun; I suddenly saw and felt like I was coloring like I did in my childhood. I also recognized my weaknesses with shading, such as the overlapping of the rosemary stalk over the garlic in the background. I decided to remove that garlic and the individual clove. (See original photo)
I was quite satisfied with the final work and very clear about where the flaws were and where I could improve. I hope to continue coloring in the near future.

I don't know much about art/painting but my wife used to draw when she was young.
My son loves to draw all the time 🙇♀️

This is incredibly amazing, I would just have loved to see you add more depth to the darker areas, that's the only thing needed, the other needs are beautifully present! 👏
Saludos amigo @Joslud, a veces los materiales que usamos se vuelven odiosos con nosotros, pero seguir adelante tres sentido a lo que hacemos, ya que la experiencia le dió la oportunidad de tomar decisiones al respecto, pero estoy de acuerdo con usted, aún dr las adversidades a mi parecer, obtuvo un resultado agradable, y es que no todo es malo en la vida, y también podemos aprender cosas nuevas y si, nos divertimos en el proceso, esto es mejor.
Hablando de calidad a lo que a lápices de colores escolares se refiere, no todos son de mala calidad, hay entre buenos, malos y peores.
Existen muchas marcas de colores, me cuentan que hay de muy buena calidad, he visto algunas marcas por páginas de venta, bueno aún no he tenido la oportunidad de probarles ni comprar, el presupuesto no ha permitido adquirir unos, sin embargo sigo trabajando con los que tengo, los escolares, hasta que tenga la oportunidad de reunir y adquirir uno de ellos, profesionales, eso espero pase algún día, no pierdo la fé, para ver qué tal me acompañan en mis dibujos.
Para concluir, su dibujo se ve muy bien, me gustó mucho, usted dibujo muy buen boceto, con buenas proporciones y con una buena imagen de referencia, le felicito, a pesar de que los colores escolares no le prestaron apoyo el resultado se ve bien 👌🏻..😊
