Crowd-incubation for growth in the Steem ecosystem: Developer Delegation Day #8

in #crowd-supportlast month

I'm posting a little early this month, since my schedule is sort-of busy at the moment. In GMT time, it's going to be April 5th in about an hour, so it's time for me to make my monthly delegations to developers.

As you may recall, Developer Delegation Day is a day when we can offer our appreciation to Steem's developers in order to support the work that they do to make the ecosystem a better place. The idea was first suggested here, as follows:

On the 5th of each month, community members will delegate 5 STEEM Power (SP) to a Steem developer of their choice. This regular support helps sustain and incentivize the developers who will become the backbone of the Steem ecosystem.

Like a monthly subscription to an author's blog or podcast, the idea here is to make a monthly show of support to a developer. And unlike the more traditional subscription programs, Steem delegations offer the advantage that they can be withdrawn later, if it becomes appropriate.

So, here are the details from my 8th consecutive monthly delegation. First, my delegations as-of last month:

Developer AccountLast Delegation DateLast Delegation AmountCurrent Total

Here are my new delegations (from @remlaps-pb). Since the price of STEEM is currently low, I increased the delegation to 10-each for this month.

And here are my updated totals:

I invite other Steemizens to join in with a delegation to your own choice of developer. It helps boost the ecosystem, and it gives you a monthly topic to post about on your blog.

One thing that I've been wondering about is whether it makes sense to continue this, since the Steem Proposal System (SPS) seems to be actively funding development again? I think the answer to that question is "yes", for two reasons: (1) It is wicked-hard for most developers to get a project through the SPS; and (2) Most stakeholders don't have much of a voice in whether an SPS project gets approved or not.

So, in my opinion, Crowd-Support through Developer Delegation Day can still be a useful decentralized method to incentivize development in our ecosystem.

Who's going to join in? Pick a developer who produces something that makes your Steem experience better, send them a 5 STEEM delegation, blog about it, and do it again next month!

Thank you for your time and attention.

As a general rule, I up-vote comments that demonstrate "proof of reading".
